However, it has to be mentioned that ffmpeg would also have needed some optimization with regard to h265 for some time.

LiveTV or stream ??
Live TV is played internally, which has nothing to do with gst or ffmpeg.
The chip does this directly without detours

@WanWizard

Unfortunately, everything you wrote is a lie.

That statement warrants a response.

1. My compain was about my private code from E2iPlayer which was publicated here:
https://forums.openp...irtualkeyboard/ by the person @mfaraj57.
https://forums.openp...-on-your-forum/

There is nothing private about your code.

It is public, published here (https://gitlab.com/e...r/-/tree/master), and without a license that prevents or disallows reuse of that public code.
It does contain a "maintainer and license.info" file (but not in the root of the repo.

A Google translation:

he E2iPlayer plugin can be modified by anyone.
The author of each modification is required to send, with confirmation of receipt, a detailed description of the modification together with its source code to the email address: samsamsam@o2.pl.

Everyone has the right to de-code the E2iPlayer plug-in code if it has been published without sources.

In the case of Enigmy2 distributions containing the pre-installed E2iPlayer plug-in, or enabling its installation or upgrade, the E2iPlayer component code
as part of the delivered version must be identical to the code from the main repository available at https://gitlab.com/i...tvplayer-for-e2.
It is prohibited to provide incomplete E2iPlayer plug-in code without obtaining the prior permission of the main developer.
At the same time, it is allowed to distribute the plug-in code in the form of precompiled pyo files.

The creators of the E2iPlayer plug-in are not responsible for damages resulting from the use of the E2iPlayer plug-in, regardless of how these damages arose and what they relate to.
The creators of the E2iPlayer plugin are not responsible for the improper or unlawful use of the E2iPlayer plugin, including for illegal downloading of video content using the E2iPlayer plugin.

The E2iPlayer plugin should be treated as a content browser available on the Internet, therefore the creators of the E2iPlayer plugin cannot and are not responsible for the content to which the user accesses using
E2iPlayer plugin.

The E2iPlayer plugin supports logging in to some websites that require premium accounts.
However, the creators of the plugin do not sell such accounts.

it explicitly allows decompilation or re-engineering, and does not forbid re-use of the code in any way, it only talks about the plugin, and alterations to the plugin.

You could argue that you are not getting the required attribution ("portions of this code copyright samsamsam" or something), but that is different from "private code being stolen".

I do understand the annoyance of someone running away with your hard work (happens all the time), but that is the nature, and often also the strength) of open source.

It can't be prevented, even if you have a water-tight license. Which you don't have.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

@samsamsam, So what are the plans for GPL libexteplayer for mipsel/arm broadcom SOCs? Are you going to continue on that, are you aware of anyone else? I am interested in 4K resolution video playback, which I can test and dig into code a bit, or provide you any debug info. In order to do so, I need some of the developers of exteplayer3 to guide me.

The stolen code is a unfortunate, but anybody can decompile python pyo sources and use it, so eventually it will popup here or on the other forum. I understand that there is some disagreement between you guys, but let's not change the topic. Because the main thing is:

We need smooth and stable playback on the enigma2 devices. It seems that gstreamer can not do that, I think that the entire framework is cursed. The most of the sources/demuxers that are required for iptv reside in the gstreamer-bad bundle, that tells you that they are indeed bad.

To my experience that exteplayer does the job better in all cases. So I'd like to see further improvements of the code and have a single mainstream github repository for it, because we must not fragment enigma2 even more.

Not libexteplayer but exteplayer3 which compails and works on SH4, MIPSEL/ARM (broadcom) and ARM (HiSilicon)

My accounts are blocking and my posts are removing as you can see.

So what are the plans for GPL libexteplayer for mipsel/arm broadcom SOCs?

@WanWizard

You or other admin remove my post and ban my IP. May I ask why?
This is completely under. You quote part of my post and you did not give the opportunity to respond.

This is horrible.

Regarding public version which you mentioned:

e2i/e2iplayer/

I wrote that I have no problem if some one will take last public version and make further development ot the IPTVPlayer/E2iPlayer.

But the code of public version has his own license and you should respect it you can no take part of it and use as you want - because this code has license.

I complained about stolen code from my private version - do you see this code in the public version?

But first at all removing post and closing mouth by IP ban - these are terrible methods.

Post which you removed:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@WanWizard

samsamsam, the author, has been complaining about his code being "stolen" for a while, and has been demanding from us (on this forum) to take action to actively protect his code.
Which we refused, we are no party, and his code is pubished without license, which makes it available for re-use.

Unfortunately, everything you wrote is a lie.

1. My compain was about my private code from E2iPlayer which was publicated here:
https://forums.openp...irtualkeyboard/ by the person @mfaraj57.
https://forums.openp...-on-your-forum/
I never ask you to protect my code in the Internet but simple remove content from YOUR forum which breake the license!
You wrote that my code is pubished without license. What? Which one? Maybe code of E2iPlayer with license which was broken by many others?

2. exteplayer3 - it is continuation of work from libeplayer and licensed under GPL for some time we cooperated with @mx3L on it

@rantanplan

Incidentally, Taapat also wanted to adjust exteplayer3 a little at the time. Back then, had problems with the always bad-tempered samsamsam, if I remember correctly. :)

You are wrong @Taapat wanted to revert changes giving main stability improvement - media player as separate process.
You can read here about this:
https://github.com/e...eplayer3/pull/2

@rantanplan you are also wrong about HiSilicon based STB like for example H9S - I cooperate with Zgemma developers on drivers improvment:
https://forums.openp...proved-drivers/

exteplayer3 on H9S works great! With h264 (up to 4K resolution), h265, VP8, VP9 and even RealMedia (rmvb) and so on.

Please post only confirmed information.
Such lies from the administrators are a disgrace.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and a second one
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are wrong. Hisiplayer is provided by HiSilicon chipset vendor in their SDK and it does not base on libeplayer at all.
At first it is not based on linux dvb api (it does not use /dev/dvb/adapter0/video0 and /dev/dvb/adapter0/audio0 to inject data), most probably it also does not use PES format for injection data but use ES format directly - (using ES format - this is only my suspicion, not verified information)
Yep they both use ffmpeg libraries to demux different containers and to deconding some audio codec which can not be handled directly by audio core in the sock.
Once again, please provide only verified information.

Regards,
Sam

I don't understand.

There is a private version appearently, which I don't know, don't have, and never seen, which is stolen? Someone broke into your house? Or did you distribute it, and therefor it isn't private anymore?

I don't understand.

The version was private and stolen by user which configure STB of person which had this copy.

I am sure that @mfaraj57 will tell you more if you are interested abut this.

As you know this is new account with posts limit, so I will be not able to make further response to you.

I also think that this discussion is out of topic. You post about my complaint here was out of topic and the rest of discussion regarding E2iPlayer license here is out of topic.

This is my last post because I have reached the 5 post limit

@technic

I don't plan future development of the https://github.com/e...yer/exteplayer3

But these code is under GPL license and it based on work done in libeplayer - without libeplayer this would not have been created, so anyone can continue work.

I wrote years ago, here on this forum when I started work on exteplayer3 that E2 should switch to such solution where media player is separate process.

I mentioned about undeniable advantages of such solution.

You can find the answer which was provided by community.

It seems to me that some clarity is needed here.
for the openpli feed is used exteplayer3 from here: https://github.com/e...yer/exteplayer3
As I understand, samsamsam has never objected to its use in public. He has stopped public development. Therefore, if a technic wants to make improvements he can clone this repo and continue to develop in his repo.
We can switch to his repo.

For enigma media playback with exteplayer3 is mostly used plugin serviceapp: https://github.com/O...rviceapp.bb#L12
whose developer is mx3L.
