Redirected from GitHub issue, 2695

So far I only noticed this issue on 0.8W 11843V 30000, with HBO HD. When the channel broadcasts > 16:9 content, sometimes it appears as 'stretch nonlinear' even if my setting is 'letterbox' I have to switch to another setting, then back to 'letterbox to fix it. This issue appears again after a reboot. Video of the issue: Attached File  IMG_0521.mp4   6.66MB   2 downloads (you can see that it's normal on SD, also it's normal if i watch using OpenWebif m3u8 (although the video was taken on ATV, it happens on Pli too, I hope it's okay that I used it to record the issue...)

Today it also happened with 16:9 content: Attached File  stretched.JPEG   87.21KB   5 downloads

From webif: (it looks normal: Attached File  webif.jpg   76.32KB   5 downloads

Box: Vu+ Solo 4K, tested with ATV 6.4, Pli 7.2 and 7.3

About the Dolby issue that i mentioned in the Github issue: It happens always on Zero 4K, with Dolby Downmix turned off, after watching a channel with Dolby sound, there won't be any sound if i switch back to a normal mpeg channel (only on another Dolby channel) I have to restart enigma2 to fix it. Also adjusting volume on Dolby channels is not functioning right (sound level adjustment of the box is not working, it's either very loud or sound level is zero.)

In the av setup there is a letterbox option for this...

WaveFrontier 28.2E | 23.5E | 19.2E | 16E | 13E | 10/9E | 7E | 5E | 1W | 4/5W | 15W

But as you can see in the video, it's already set to letterbox, as always. Still it displays as stretch nonlinear. If i set it to something other than letterbox, then back to letterbox, that fixes it till a restart. Plus on the image you can also see it's happening with 16:9 too.

Hi,

information about a recording concerning resolution would be interesting.

Uhm... yes? It's set to letterbox, but the image clearly shows it's operating as 'stretch nonlinear'...

Right now it's happening again but in a different way. I got black lines at the top and bottom of the screen, hiding the half of the logo and some of the bottom content. It's perfectly fine on recording.

SD (fine): TNWncu4.jpg

HD (it's fine only on Webif and recording): t1hyeq6.jpg

On which box?

In this example it's happening on the Vu+ Solo 4K. But I have 2 Zero 4K at home, they are doing it too.

I'm afraid your TV is trying to remove the black bars... So I suggest you need to search for a setting in your TV...

This is definitely not my TV. Overscan is turned off, and I can see the bottom and the top of the box skin on the TV. Plus it happens only on this particular channel. And that wouldn't explain the stretch issue with 21:9 content which gets fixed by box setting letterbox -> something else -> back to letterbox.

That recording was indeed 16:9, however it has black top and bottom.

I know it's 21:9 when the logo goes down a bit. and it's not in the top black bar like on other channels. Plus on the video when I set the >16:9 content setting from letterbox, to something else then back to letterbox, it resolves the stretch issue.

It happens not only for me, I've tested it on multiple TVs and boxes. When the black bars appear at 16:9 content, there's nothing I can do, either I switch to the SD version or I to wait for 21:9 content, set letterbox to something else then back to letterbox. This way 16:9 content will be fine too for some time, then the issue will appear after a few hours / next box restart again.

I will wait for a 21:9 movie again then will do the recording again.

I just installed PLI 7.3 and as you can see, the box skin is not cutted. also the small image preview has cut too, so it cannot be my tv.

No, it is not 21:9, really. As I saw, where you have black strips (and cropped logo!?), there I have picture and full logo on this same service and this same event.

But why do I have black bars even in the small image preview? (at Settings-Info-Channel Info). It happens only on the hungarian HBO HD 11843V, and it does not happen on the cze HBO HD at 11977H. Right now there is a 21:9 content movie (even though channel info says 16:9), now this one is fine on both.

Own local dish. Not stream. It's weird that in OpenWebif the image does NOT cut even on that small preview (Settings-Info-Channel Info), but on the actual TV it does.
