Why does the time format have to be in 12 hour format? Is there some reason you want this besides cosmetics?

You have in skins strings that format how date and time should be shown (eg also the month/day format vs day/mount) and some are in code. Those In code can be controlled. For those in skins you need special treatment...

Moving back  to North America, where I lived most of my life and I am used to am/pm. The 24h format is illogical. Have you anywhere seen  in any shop, selling watches or cloaks with a face 24h? Think about it.   AM = Ante meridiem: Before noon, PM = Post meridiem: After noon.  It has been like this since the clocks exist, it was changed in Europe some 30 to 40 years ago. Now is a matter of different standards.

A 12/24 hour option would be nice, but 24 hour or military time does not bother the operation of enigma2.  North American atsc epg populates correctly when using OpePLi images.
Good luck on making much progress as I have already tried it.

Made an experiment.I have 7 years old STB I bought in the US which has only the 12h (am/pm format) and is not Enigma2. Scanned some channels and check the single EPG. Time was am/pm. This means, that Enigma2 and all the skins that come with it are designed only for 24h. Unless the developers add 12h format, nothing can be done.
I am open for suggestions.

First of all it is simply 'getting used to'. You were obviously brought up in the 12 hours system (so you are simply used to it). The 24 hour format is used all over the world and widely accepted. Simply because it is American doesn't mean everybody has to obide by their rules!

... but we can also add 10:10 and 20:20 to that date.  :)

Thank you ja5. And for MIMISIKU  I would like to add something: 12h format (am/pm) DOES NOT come from the United States. It was accepted there only as the standard like 24h is accepted in Europe and some other countries. Please MIMISIKU read what a member already posted: https://en.wikipedia...i/12-hour_clock

Maybe a better structured way is work with translation and modify all date format strings to the right am/pm format.... and then arrange that all date/time format strings are translatable and then add a translation English_usa etc.... I suggest this is the only real structured way to do this (and better than the what vix did)

Tbh it doesnt make where you live im uk and also perfer 12h

The problem i have found that you can edit most skins to get 12h not a problem but things like timer list and single epg etc are not so easy. Openvix is the only image iv seen 12h but one skin is 24h

I started to think its to do with getting the time and openvix geolocation but havent tested.

Not so easy when your not a skin maker lol

With translation you can ‘translate a 24 format to 12 format...

There are already examples of reformatting a date or timestamp string for some languages.

Well im none the wiser but i found out that openvix have a way to change everything with a simple 12 to 24 switch.

In openvix you can set date style and time style i think this is the same in openatv.

Openvix will switch epg guild epg search and timers 12h or 24h iv even tried usa lol

openatv can not do epg guild search or timers etc, well not with the matrix or ultimate skin

The only thing i can see what changes is etc/enigma2 settings

config.usage.time.long=%-I:%M:%S%P
config.usage.time.mixed=%-I:%M%P
config.usage.time.short=%-I:%M%P

could openpli offer this option in th future??

Yes they can... but with a hack and not the method it should be done... actually it cannot work fully eg in skins you can hard format date/time strings. ithis should be made translatable... somehow... when someone has a lot of time it can be done...

For me this topic is closed. Flashed OpenVix, this time carefully set date to am/pm and it worked like charm! Regrettably have to leave Openpli.  :)
