Greetings everyone.

 

DM8000 with OpenPli 8, the internal DVD drive does not show up in the file system and inserting a disk; it just spins for a while, cannot play any anything.

I did flash a third party image, it worked fine, nothing wrong with the box or drive.

I think the feed "DVD Player" driver is useless.

 

Please help me fix it.

Separate media issue, in the VLC plugin, when I click on a movie to play from PC it says " No valid enigma service to play a VLC-stream"

Is anything missing? Do I need to install additional services?

To get the YouTube plugin working I have the exteplayer enabled as default, does it have anything to do with this?

hello to everybody,today i installed on my dm8000 latest development image,unfortunately watching tv is not fluent,always short freesers,the same with 8.0 maybe a little less freezers.BUT: on latest development DVD+CD WORKING GREAT with all information about the artist ,songtitle etc..Because watching tv is my main purpose i returned to 7.3 image but there DVD and CD are working,but have no information,eyerything else in the image works great.would it be possible please to fix this in 7.3 to,like in latest development image because i fear that 7.3 unfortunately will be the last image that works properly on the dm8000.

Do you have these freezes on FTA channels, or with a local smartcard or CI module?

Which softcam? Which version?

 

Nothing has changed to the DM8000 in dogs years, it has been end of life for a very long time. There also aren't any major changes in Enigma between 7.3 and 8.0.

 

The biggest change is the OE version, which has no impact on the DVB part.

I did before I posted, the config line you suggested is in the image without any visible results.

softcam from the feed.There are even more short freezers while recording on hdd and watching another program,efect seems like on computers with not enough ram..but what explanation for the cd and dvd part?

oscam the one that is on the server for 7.3

Check your oscam config, the default config has quite agressive settings for EMM caching, which for providers sending lots of EMM's might use up a lot of memory.

It doesn't really help. This is only part of the solution to the problem, I don't know the solution for the rest.

Not for 7.3, no, different OE, and mdev instead of udev.

For an old beast like the DM8000 hardly of any interest any more... How many are still in active use anyhow??

You can change the url in setup menu plugin (CDDB server hostname) to gnudb.gnudb.org, that should do the trick.

Wasn't meant in a mean way... The DM8000 is now 10+ years old.. You should have saved in that time some money to invest in a new box.. Technology changes rapidly, so do the new functions. The DM8000 has a 405Mhz dual core chip.. Why expect it to perform modern functions.... Simply get a modern box....

From the point of view of 'tinkering' and 'optimizing' it is precisely these older boxes that are interesting.
Problems can be seen more quickly and the successes are also clearer.
If you can manage that everything works here, then it's a good thing.
