Which box? And do you know which updates? Ideally, it should be 0 after a flash.

The bootlogo is probably always there, unless your box is the last one being build. gstreamer is possible, that means we have more fixes to do (but those won't be related to glibc ).

WanWizard, when you said:
We're still working on this issue, and we think we've found the cause. A solution is currently tested in develop.
Was it related to below ?
BTW after flashing module ftdi_sio was not loaded, causing /dev/serial/by-id/ being not available.
Modprobe ftdi_sio solved it & after a reboot ftdi_sio was automatically loaded again => not an issue, but surprising.
(in case 'no' just FYI this happened after flashing 1006 too).

No.
As I can't find the original post:
For which box? And since when did this become a problem? As I don't see a difference between the 7.3 build and the current 8.1 build.

For Vu Duo 4k se.
Noticed for 1st time after flashing 0930 on 01 Oct 2021. But problem may have existed before, just went unnoticed.
After an extra reboot module ftdi_sio get loaded = no problem.
But if one flashes without making an extra reboot afterwards, then module does not get loaded, and any ftdi device cannot be used.
Packet allowing ftdi use is in 8.1 feed but not installed by default.
It is kernel-module-ftdi-sio-4.1.45-1.17
=> after flashing using a backup, this extra packet get automatically re-installed.
But looks like the installer does unfortunately not load the module : no 'modprobe ftdi_sio' done during packet configuration

The install script in the package says:
#!/bin/sh set -e if [ -z "$D" ]; then depmod -a 4.1.45-1.17 else # image.bbclass will call depmodwrapper after everything is installed, # no need to do it here as well : fi
which is probably the cause, as image.bbclass only runs when the module is part of the image (it is a class in the build process), not if the package is installed from the feed.

Hi WanWizard
Thanks for your investigations.
Do you think
- this package install script should call depmodwrapper then ? or trigger image.bbclass (no idea what it does) ?
- following comment should be removed as it does not apply
# image.bbclass will call depmodwrapper after everything is installed,
# no need to do it here as well

image.bbclass is part of bitbake, it is pointless client-side.
It used to be
depmodwrapper -a -b $D ${KERNEL_VERSION}
see https://github.com/o...8d7f9868ced6039, but I think this has side-effects, as you have noticed.
This has to be discussed with OE.
