8.1 uses the (real) linux version of "mount", instead of the busybox version.
Busybox simply ignored invalid options, Linux fails if the options are incorrect. If you are using a username and password, make sure they are correct. If not, make sure those fields are empty (and not filled with "username" and "password" strings).
Also, empty the options field to make sure those aren't blocking the mount.

I have solved the problem, or rather it has solved itself:
First autofs was still in the way, blocking the mount directory, but after removing autofs and several reboots my CIFS shares still could not be mounted. After the receiver shuts down completely at night per electro addon I completely started it from scratch this morning and now the mounts work and also the boot process is reasonably fast (about the same as before with 8.0). Anyway, thanks for the tips! As mount options I still use "rw".

Why don't you use the EPGimport plugin?

Hey guys. I have a problem with EPG on Open Pli 8.1. The file is downloaded through the CrossEPG plugin, but the program is not displayed. Although I can see the file on the flash drive.
I apologize if I made a mistake with the topic. How to solve this?
8.0 is ok for same plugin/setup?

What is the problem with flashing, since there is a build in function in OpenPLi that will take a backup of the important files and the list of plugin to reinstall from the feed.
Once flashed you will be prompted to restore those settings.
Flashing / Online flashing is not an issue you can have fully up and running box in a few minutes.

Thanks. I respect your opinion, and disagree with it. From my user point of view, by the moment there is functionality that is available (on-line update) that will lead to a possible unusable (or screwed-up) system (as far as I understood it from the first message of this topic) than I think it should be repaired or disabled.

If you read what is explained before there was a server failure and we are unable to restore the versionning of the package like it was before the crash, so what kind of miracle do you expect to fix it?
We warn the users that they need to flash (like we do when changing of major release) if you want to perform an online upgrade give a try (you probaly have to run it several times) but then don't blame us if it is not working as expected or if you cannot upgrade some packages.
