I’ll test the PULSe4K on my new 4K TV which handles HDMI-CEC properly so far.

How?

The problem is not box -> tv (so using the box remote, box in standby = tv in standby), but tv -> box (switch the TV off or to another HDMI input, box goes into standby).

You should try these settings:

config.hdmicec.minimum_send_interval=50
config.hdmicec.repeat_wakeup_timer=0

Do not repeat wakeup timer and set a delay of 50 ms

But the HDMI CEC iimplementation s far from being perfect in the Pulse4K. :-)  But trust me turning TV ON/OFF from the Pulse4K RCU only so with HDMI-CEC is working fine I use it on my parents TV.

I already tried those settings. Nothing improved. Thanks anyway!

When I turn on the box, the TV turns on, the box immediately goes back to standby, the TV turns off again and won't wake up from standby.  The hdmi cec doesn't work as it should!

The reason for this is if you have set the wakeup/shutdown to "any activity".

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

The problem is the other way around.

So TV en and box in standby, then switch the TV on with the TV remote, box should switch on too, but it doesn't. The debug log doesn't show any incoming CEC command from the TV.

My "test" TV has an option to scan the CEC bus for devices, and it reports "no devices found" if my box is in standby. If it is on, it responds directly, and my TV displays the name of the box.

The problem remains: the box doesn't see any incoming relevant CEC commands from the TV.

A few seconds after the TV has been switched on again, the box receives this, but that appearently doesn't contain anything that triggers the box to startup:

I tried the receiver with all the images, none of them see the receiver, on standby.  Is there a solution for it?

For a solution to be made, first the problem must be identified.

If I look at what the box receives when it is on, it is a CEC ping, to which the box responds with some info about itself.

If I check the code, it wakes up from standby when

  • it receives command 04 and CEC is configured for signal "Wakeup"
  • it receives command 83 and CEC is configured for signal "Request for physical address report"
  • it receives command 84 and CEC is configured for signal "TV physical address report"
  • it receives command 85 and CEC is configured for signal "Source request"
  • it receives command 86 and CEC is configured for signal "Stream request"
  • it receives command 8C and CEC is configured for signal "Vendor report"
  • it receives command 46 and CEC is configured for signal "OSD name request"
  • it receives command 36 and CEC is configured for signal "Any activity"

If you look at my screenshot, you see it receives both 85 and 46 from the TV when the box is not in standby.

But when the box is in standby, nothing is received. If I enable debugging, the hdmicec.log file remains empty.

Conclusion: something is seriously broken.

I only trust you.  No one else gets it like you do.  I also reported it to the manufacturer, but they don't deal with it.

It is not limited to the Pulse 4K, this was an analysis of my HD66 SE.

So it might be a limitation in the HiSil drivers?

I tested it on an amiko viper 4k v40 (HiSil) receiver, on which HDMI CEC works flawlessly.

Just flashed my HD66 with ATV 7.2, but I'm struggling to configure the tuner, I can't select Unicable as a tuner option. So no sat available on this box :(.

But the CEC issue remains the same. If the box is in standby, not a single CEC command is logged when I switch the TV on, and the box remains in standby.

It would be great if this could be tested with other manufacturers too, so we get a complete picture of the issue.

We don't build images for dinobot hardware (which the Viper 4K is), so that is not of much use to us.

You can't do that, as the problem exist only when the box is in standby, so no access to the plugin.

I added some print statements to hdmicec.py, but there is absolutely nothing coming in when the box is in standby.
