So i live in an appartment and had to pull some wires years ago and decided to go for a unicable solution since OPENPLI and the supported tuners allow to use of it.

It was a great solution since i just had to pull 1 wire from the roof. But now i also want to connect Legacy tuners on this unicable setup without having to pull 3 more wires (qauttro). I do still have another wire at the roof so essentially 2 wires do come down to the room.

I was wondering if it is possible to somehow use this new WIDE BAND LNB's and an IDLU-UWT110-CUO1O-32P to combine UNICABLE II with a legacy multiswitch in cascading mode.. the unicable multiswitch then must convert the wideband signal to LH LV HH HV signal in cascading mode.

Attached File  setup.JPG   59.91KB   2 downloads

So essentially i only have 2 wires coming from the LNB down to the room...

Else i have to pull two more coax wires to allow an QUATTO setup which allows UNICABLE + LEGACY multiswitch setup for sure

Then 4 wires go into IDLU-UWT110-CUO1O-32P and looptrough the output again to a legacy cascading switch allowing uncable II and legacy to work but this does mean i have to pull 2 extra wires.

Any suggestions?

As far as I know the legacy ports are completely separated from the UniCable SCR. You will have to connect the kegacy ports as with any other ‘standard’ LNB. You can use a Jonasson Stacker/Destacker if you don’t want pull extra cables…

could you explain that solution for me please?

But then still i might have to buy a unicable 2 programmer to program the switch and the Jonasson stacker/destacker which will cost me way more than just pulling two more wires...

A stacker is only relevant if you can't pull any extra wires.

And it is not exactly clear what your setup is. You talk about a wideband LNB, but that requires two cables, and you mention only one, so do you have a Unicable LNB instead? If so, you can't connect a Unicable LNB to a switch.

Currently i have a 32 lunicable lnb. 1 wire coming from the roof. But i have another backup wire laying around. so i have access to 2 wires.

If i understood mimisiku i could join HL HH with a stacker over 1 wire and VL VH over another wire with another stacker but that means i have to buy two stackers which is around 150 euro.. Maybe its better to just pull two more wires instead and have 4 wires entering the unicable mutliswitch allowing me to passtrough to a legacy switch aswell.

In that setup you can't use a Unicable LNB.

If you have two cables, and you only need 1 sat position, you could go for a wideband LNB (which has two outputs, H and V), and find a switch with both unicable and legacy outputs. Which won't be easy if you need more than 1 legacy port. And it won't be easy to find a legacy switch that supports wideband LNB's.

Cascading in itself works fine, I have a Jultec cascading to an Inverto, but with Quattro LNB's. The challenge is your two cables, that limits your choices.

Thanks for answering. Then my only option is to add 2 more wires having 4 wires going into IDLU-UWT110-CUO1O-32P allowing the use of unicable 2 function on that switch.

Use the 4 output ports for cascading into a legacy multiswitch with legacy ports to use on older legacy tuners aswell.

too bad there is no single cable solution for legacy tuners...

Inverto has QUATTRO to optical stacker. I was looking for something like that but then for coax.

my initial question was actually. How to achieve this as cheap as possible instead of having to pull two more wires.

In the end i could connect an unicable multiswitch and cascade again...

I don't think coax has the frequency range to do more than dual stack, at least I've never seen a quad stacker.

I think I got that.

It all boils down to how much money you have vs how complex it is to install additional cables. Because you could also go for something like the Triax TdSCR 504, to which you can connect a wideband LNB (only two coax needed), and has 8 output, all legacy or Unicable.

2 extra cables,

IDLU-UWT110-CUO1O-32P

cascaded to legacy multiswitch will give me both 32 unicable outputs and (existing 16 legacy from the legacy switch)

i guess thats the cheapest/best solution.

the IDLU-UWT110-CUO1O-32P acting as converter from WIDEBAND to QUATTRO from cascading function is not possible i guess.

I hope i can fit two more cables else i have to check a solution like the triax but with 16 ports where i can use 1 port as unicable and the other ports as legacy.. Triax switch unfortunately doesnt support 32 unicable. the 16 ports variant is very expensive tho...

No, cascading outputs are pass-through, so what goes in comes out, it doesn't convert.

And a Quattro LNB. Is the most logical solution, yes.

You need 32 SCRs per cable? Are you supplying the entire building on a single cable, or building an IPTV farm? ;)
