I’m also afraid that vu+ need to update drivers for it…. And at this moment this will never happen…

It is interesting that it works with VTI 14 image.
Not with OpenPLI. Is it that much more difficult to create a driver for OpenPLI?

VTI is a clone of VU+' own image, and they did all the work.

It all boils down to making time for it, and nobody seems to be willing to do it (or even has the thing to be able to test). I for one am not going to do it, USB tuners are the bane of my life.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Seems it works with OBH, can you do a test.

OE-Alliance images do have it, yes.

VtI is illegally closed source. When there is a work-a-round or fix in their code it is not helpful. Then the only hope is that there is a fix in the original vu+ code. When oe-alliance have a solution we might also search there.

I'll try it with OBH. I indicate the result.

The problem isn't a fix.

The problem is the kernel drivers don't work, you need special VU+ adapted drivers, which means kernel overrides by out-of-tree code, special VU+ only build recipes, etc. And lots of time for testing. Which you can only do if you have a VU+ test box + one of those USB tuners ( I don't have either ).

So you’re saying there are going patches drivers around for these USB tuners so they can work under a lower kernel….?

No, don't mix discussions.

  1. There is no driver for the Turbo SE, for any kernel version, because of the complex out-of-tree source that is required
  2. There is no driver for 3.14 kernels, because that complex out-of-tree source requires a newer kernel, and backporting drivers over major kernel versions is an absolute nightmare and requires both kernel knowledge and C/C++ skills

The first can be adressed easier than the second, which require an awful lot of patch work.
