I have the Pulse 4K up and running now, latest OpenPLi develop, with E2-DarkOS from July 20th.

I'm going around the GMEPG at the moment, but see no significant difference in response between this box and the SF8008, or the Solo 4K for that matter?

Short video: https://streamable.com/yidklt

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

I don't the box so Dimitar needs to comment. But the problem I would have thought is opening the screen.

OpenVIX (and other OE-A images) have all sorts of hacks in the graphics code to compensate for double buffering issues on some HiSil boxes, causing weird repainting issues or blinking graphics sometimes (like for example in the virtual keyboard).

These hacks basically slow down everything as they delay painting to refresh cycles (as I understood it, not really my expertise).

It's one of the many reasons why people don't like OpenATV, as it slows down the entire GUI on those boxes, even navigating the menu's can be slow.

Try flashing your box with an OpenPLi develop, and see if you notice a difference between it and OpenVIX ?

I will. However no basis for comparition since vix gepg have a lot more functions and more code compared to PLi gmepg...

I could comment on that, but I won't... ;)

But the point is imho clear, OE-A type images need an option to disable graphics due to their bloat, but OpenPLi doesn't...

In OpenPLi the gmepg is (still) a plugin... there was years ago a lot of code stuff done and the gmpeg was migrated in vix/openatv to the standard EPG stuff.... and they did the 'hatefully' Ziggo and other boxes stile of navigation where you can 'zap' through EPG with left/right while this was zap and even did Neutrino stuff where I never get used to and actually doing it enigma2 style was always 'smart'....

Basically the GMEPG does not have real more functionality... it is differently implemented as it can 'popup' in normal infobar with two channels. It is (indeed) more/better integrated into the 'rest'.... But even when it is a plugin a third screen that just shows two channels with timer options etc... could be added....

The current EPG code in ViX was written from scratch a couple of years ago, not shared with any other distro.

Would be a sweet candy to share... is OpenVix already fallback tuner (with timer) compatible?

When it compiles…
For this skin we need a slight adjustment…. In the addon infobar the tuner letters are not always fully visible (eg J.)… maybe add progress bar for snr there. And adjust the simple second infobar.

What you mean with that? Can you give me more details or post a screenshot what is not visible and where?
