The name from the file is wrong as it indicates if vu then… so better rename it to something what it does or is needed for KExecMultiboot.py or so

Name another box that uses kexec ?

Technically the same solution could be used for all other models that don't have multiboot natively, for example Gigablue Quad / UE 4K?

All MIPSEL stuff is so old it's pointless wasting time on those.

To be clear, the gigablue 4k boxes always have had multiboot, and followed the mutant hd51 in doing so.
dpeddi specifically worked for many  years to achieve this technical innovation for Vu+ boxes, which is why the code  refers to Vu+. And the kexec kernels developed by dpeddi  are Vu box specific

Name another box that uses kexec ? -> I cannot mention it…. But is is simply wrong to put the a name of a box in the code as it is always better to name it regards the feature it supports. Basically we only except if box x then do y in the centralized SystemInfo.py. And also this is an exception. It is not always easy but it forced you to do some things in a structural way. Enigma2 should be a general thing. And naming a file name to a box is actually not done by this structural method. So please try to name it to the feature kexec…. Which van also be useful for other platforms maybe in the feature.

at least I think Neo understand what I mean…. At the end it is the brand name in the file that should be avoided…

GigaBlue indeed adapts to ‘legacy’ multiboot….

Not in OpenPLi, so support was never added to the BSP by gigablue...

So gigablue itself did not adapt to it…. ? Oe-a has their own bsp so they can make a change there…. Do they have a recovery image?

As far as I can see, ATV also only has an usb image, no multiboot image.

@Littlesat, neo
Guys - I worked(?) with Littlesat to change multiboot to support the Giga4k boxes, so Yes even OpenPli supports multiboot on Gigablue…. For the 4k boxes…… and I have both quad & ue4k with openpli installed into slots.

Ah, ok, so there is a work around. Good to know, thanks !

You can do the same thing with hdd or mounted ext4 usb if you boot an image that doesn't have a multiboot selector, to get out of the image.

Once in the recovery image just remember to rename or remove the file, otherwise the box will always boot recovery image.

Slot 2 OpenPli 8.3 doesn't work for me.

Not boot recovery image.

Another question. If I ask for an image online from 8.3, what will happen?

I would remove "Kexec" in the UI all together, end users have no clue what it means, I think just "Multiboot" should be enough.
