Hi,

the ciplus impelmentation is a good thing, but if you use the ci+ module for sky de (at least with a VU box) you can't do too much with it.

the problem is if you record from a fta channel and then you switch to a sky channel that doesn't works nothing is decoded as it looks, the picture just stays black.

so you also can't record from a sky channel when recording from an fta channel at the same time.

the problem exists from openpli-8.1 upwards in all openpli versions.

in the old openpli 8.0 if you use the patched enigma (not the implemented ciplus from pli) from @ednaz all is working fine.

It is a restriction in the design.

CI modules were designed in a time when CI client devices had one tuner. This tuner receives one transponder, and that transponder is routed in hardware through the CI. Whether it is FTA or not.

So as soon as you switch on the box, the CI will be locked to the first transponder tuned, and no other transponders will be routed through the CI until the first transponder is released.

You can work around this using the CI assignment plugin, where you can explicitly define which channels need to be routed through the CI. You will still have the limit of one transponder, but the limitation you now notice will be removed.

Also, if you also run a softcam next to the CI, block the same channels in the softcam service list. The CI module in some boxes become instable if they get data that was already processed by the softcam.

You could always disable the build-in CI+, and look for the cihelper ipk, and see if that works better.

But I am pretty sure SKY DE was amongst the CI modules tested.

i know in the inet it exists a ciplushelper for pli but i looked in the code (script)  and that didn't works for vu boxes (at least the one I found).

as i said in the old pli-8.0 with patched enigma2 from @ednaz all works fine, and also in all openatv images.

yes i have testet it (the result is here);

@betacentauri knows this problem.

Ok. Then I'm afaid in needs more work.

It's a shame all those patched versions are distributed as binary, instead of sharing the code for the patch, so we could see what the problem could be.

Don’t worry. For SKY it will be over very soon. The CI+ modules will be phased out this year. Pairing has started by the Cable providers as well. SKY only possible in their own hardware…

I wonder if SKY can get away with that, given the German laws on this point. No CI means no more watching with just a TV (which I think the majority of older viewers use, instead of an STB).

But I agree the playing field is rapidly changing.

For cable, Liberty Global has already removed the smartcard all together (for cable networks where the Tivo box is used) and swapped for a softcam solution via Internet, SKY UK is very busy swapping customers to IPTV, and has instructed their installers not to install sat dishes anymore. SKY even sells their own smart TV with built-in streaming client.

Great for the environment, all these proprietary devices....

SKY has lost it’s gloom and simply tries to cash on - very expensive - sports channels. Heavily overpriced and many in Germany simply ‘pull the plug’. Normal TV is FTA and commercial channels can be viewed with HD+ for a mere € 79 per annum. Liberty Global wants to get rid of SKY since profits are dwindling and Sports becomes too expensive….

Didn't know Liberty Global owned sky too? I thought they were into cable networks?

Since 2018 Sky Group is owned by Comcast, after Fox lost the bit.

yes, maybe that is so and the CI+ modules from sky de disappear, but until it is so far it would still be nice if a solution for the problem I mentioned would come

i have installed now a old openpli-8.0-release (fullbackup) in a slot (vu multiboot), in this fullbackup is included the patched enigma2 from @ednaz for ciplus and it works perfect.

but unfortunately @ednaz doesn't make anything anymore for a long time and so there is currently no solution from openpli-8.1 upwards.

We know that. Contains only binaries, and only up to 8.0-release.

We need to know what patches (s)he applied to enigma.

Wieso? In OpenPli 8.1 > besteht /etc/ciplus. Darin muss mann selber die 4 Dateien kopieren.. Dann läuft CI+ bestens…
