I can flash the firmware over dreamup for sure, but is there also other way how to update dm600? I noticed some software update in settings, though I am not sure how this works, because I wasnt able to find anything in wiki about it.

There is a selection "Update your Dreambox software" in Software Management but this will only update your software within the same release (so, only fixes on Jade). You can't update to a new release for that.

The "software update" in settings puts your box in stop mode so you can flash it using the web interface.

So the web interface update is equivalent to dreamup, right? Do I have to backup my settings somehow or config files will be not overwritten?

Indeed, except that the web interface is easier (no cable needed)
You need to backup your settings first. There's also a backup/restore menu. If you really want to be sure, copy the important settings files first to your PC.
