There is always a CW involved  ;).

I don't know what Enigma does internally, all I know is that if a channel is decrypted by both the CI and the Softcam, you can wait on the CI breaking...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

So, I have been trying to get the cam work for months, I had a bit of a sucess with the developer image, but after a while of switching through the channels using oscam and the Kabelio channels the cam stopped working.
Over the weekend I did something I tried to avoid as I am using openpli for over a decade now. Well, to cut it short: With openatv it works like a charm, there has been no crashes, neither did it stopped working. So I assume this has something to with the drivers, etc. as I used the exact config for the oscam as in pli.
Such a shame, as I am so used to openpli for such a long time.

What version of openATV? If it is old (6.x), then special closed libraries VU+ for CI+ were used there.

And everything works perfectly there.

That's why I wrote earlier

The VU+ receiver is the worst option for using CI+, at least on openPLi.

Need old openATV/openBh/VTI images -->VU+ for CI+

This is not true...there were CIs in the past that did had a complete different way of encrypting the video and that was handled via the CI. Within a CI a complete different 'system' can be used to decrypt the streams. There is no CW going through enigma2 and other stuff when a CI does decrypt streams... Only for CI+ the stream needs to be extra decrypted when it leaves the CI+.

Very strange.

Maybe openATV is collecting its image again with the VU+ libraries?

Can you check again on the latest openPLi develop image?

I recently tried to synchronize code [CI] synchronize with openATV/openViX

That is not true - OpenViX/OpenBH works fine and any OpenATV build after June 2023 (they reverted to use same code) - you need the correct certificates in /etc/ciplus

Maybe the problem is Tricolor RU module.

Since i have no issues with my Ci+ module (Bulsatcom 39E NagraVision) in ViX/BH and OpenPLi.

Also it can be the different kernel/drivers since i am using Uno4KSE/Duo4KSE....

I agree, but I am describing my experience.

When using Pulse4K(mini) /Zgemma(twin/combo)/Gigablue UE 4K/Gigablue UHD Quad 4K/Formuler1/HD51 receivers, there are no problems with the same module.

I never said that.

You need a codeword for description, no matter where the decryption takes place. Even if that is inside the CI module, there is still a codeword involved. ;)

I understand....However when i use my module with Vu+ box (with only certs installed) it works fine and there is no that black screen on zap.

But when  i use the same module on Pulse4K where it requires an external binary i often get black screen on zap and have to restart enigma.

So in my case module works much better on Vu than on all other HiSi boxes.

In the last there exists a ci that was doing a complete different video codec via a ci..: there was no cw involved…

I seem to have hit a brick wall. I have been trying to get my Kabelio CAM working with Openpli9 + enigma2-plugin-extensions-ci_plus_helper-openpli8.x_3_all.ipk. I have also tried openatv7.4 + enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-ciplushelper_5.3-r1_all and openvix6.3 with enigma2-plugin-extensions-ci-plus-helper-openbh-openvix_5.x_all. I am using a Zgemma H7S. The logs all follow a similar pattern.  The CAM initialises, is recognised, authorises OK but does not clear the channels.

I have activated my CAM in an old Technomate 5402 M3 CI+ and this clears the given channels.  It did an OTA CAM firmware update also to the latest Kabelio version 1.0120 (150). I am using a vanilla Openpli flash so no softcams, and assigned the CAID to my CI module. Here are some highlights (card no redacted):

[eMMI_UI] CI+ KABELIO CAM

[eDVBServicePlay] timeshift
[eTSMPEGDecoder] decoder state: play, vpid=ffffffff, apid=ffffffff
[eDVBPCR0] DEMUX_STOP ok

Happy to upload log if I knew how

Any insights very welcome.

Zgemma H7S not need use "Install '/etc/ciplus'"

need only "Enable ciplushelper autostart" when it disabled and reboot box

In my opinion it is better to assign channels/provider instead of caid.

I generally have issues with caid assignment and not always work correct.

Also if you try OpenPli develop (nightly) you may try without ciplushelper at all.

I better see a mechanism that properly checks/signals if CI(+) encrypts the service and then go for it and when not use emu.

Yes... But for now modules do not give information about is it possible to decode particular service... So till a way is found i think is better to assign channel/providers instead of caid.

Caid is not sufficiant indeed. Ci+ can give a popup when the module cannot be decoded, but this is always differently. You made at least something that ‘signals’ in the ui when a service is encrypted by ci

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried clean overnight build and it works to the same extent without the addon. However results ares the same: it seems to go successfully through the authorization and  it recognizes the channel as needing the CAM. From my reading of the log it seems to start the CAM up but then cannot decode the channel.  On occasion I got a screen message saying something like no access to this channel (though most often the message about the PAT after it times out). So as far as I can see it is not so much a problem with the enigma not directing it at the CAM but more a decoding problem when I use the CAM here as opposed to the Technomate. Does this imply a certificates issue?
