Hello,
I have for some weeks a Vu+ Duo 4k Se, in order to catch the streams on 5.0W but sometimes I have noticed that these are jerks on some of these channels, not always and only on watching. If I record the stream, the record is perfect, only for viewing.
I tried it on OP 8.3 and on OP 9, the same problem appears.
Is there something with this Vu+ and OpenPli?
Thanks for your help, best regards.

It is most likely a VU+ driver issue. We've seen it more, and recording or timeshifting fixes it.
Which means given the state VU+ is in, you can probably forget ever getting this fixed.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Hello,
Back on my precedent message:
As these jerks are present only on the 5.0W streams, and not always, isn't that a possibilty to correct this by the OpenPli layer?
I know that maybe there is not so much people concerned by this problem, but it's a little bit shitty when you watch it...
Thanks for your answer and for the nice job done on OP.

Hi,
OpenPLi relies on driver created by the manufacturer which are closed source, so nothing that OpenPLi can modify / fix.
And since Vu+ is out of business for opened Linux STB you will need to live with it, start a small timeshift if you want to avoid this problem.

But I have to add that for FTA DVB-S2X version of the TNT channels the antenna positioning must be perfect, especially the tilt of the LNB. You can may be try to slighly move the LNB to improve the compensation and then the signal.

It sounds like the issue might be related to real-time decoding or rendering on your Vu+ Duo 4K SE, since the recordings are fine but live viewing has occasional stuttering. Since you've experienced the issue on both OpenPLi 8.3 and 9, it could be related to the hardware or the stream handling by the image. You could try adjusting the video settings, like buffering or refresh rate, in OpenPLi. Another possibility is the network connection (if streaming via LAN or internet), which might impact live viewing but not recordings.

The most likely culprit is latency and jitter.
For recording, it isn't a problem if there are moments of high latency, as long as no packets are dropped. For realtime viewing, you get into trouble when packets arrive later than the timing data in the stream says they should be.
This could be worked around a little with buffering, but there is only limited buffering possible, due to the lack of proper memory management in the network drivers.

You're absolutely right—latency and jitter can be significant factors when it comes to real-time viewing, and it makes sense that recording isn't affected since timing isn't as strict. If limited buffering due to network driver memory management is the issue, adjusting buffer settings or optimizing network setup might help reduce the impact of packet delays during live viewing. It may also be worth checking for any network-related driver updates or configurations specific to the Vu+ Duo 4K SE to improve handling of these conditions.

I have a feeling you respond in generics because you don't actually know anything specific?
