@WanWizard,

There is some stuff required in the M3UIPTV plugin recipe for the translation part to work.

Would you please be so kind as to add it.

This:

https://github.com/o...iptv.bb#L28-L38

And for split packages, this:

I'll have a look once the build servers are up and running again.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Nope, haven't had time for it.

Buildservers are up and running again, had to go back this week because an SSD in the NAS had failed ( losing two days, it is a 1000km round trip for me ), still fine tuning the docker configs for the different images (develop builds fine now though), and now preparations for 9.1-release.

Unfortunately, all me, myself and I...

Why this, instead of the makefile normally used? Can OE-A for once get something fixed at the source, instead of worked around again?

No idea what you mean. The plugin is just *.py files. There is no makefile. Why would one be needed? And nothing to do with OE-A, it's @DimitarCC's plugin.

The link I am refering to is for the po's., and the code OE-A had added to generate the mo files, because the makefile in DimitarCC's repo is missing.

Instead of OE-A mentioning this to him, and maybe even help to address it, they chose to work around it, as always...

edit: appearently, "they" means "you" if I look at the comment history. You should now better than this. Even your own repo's, like https://github.com/H...r/SatScanLcn/po, use the makefile.

Why does it need a makefile? It is just *.py only plugin.

https://github.com/o...iptv.bb#L28-L38 has nothing to do with py files, it is about mo file generation.

Instead of having the repo define how to generate them, like every plugin does, you've pulled that logic into the BB recipe due to absense of the makefile. Instead of fixing it at the source, i.e. create the makefile.

So you want a makefile to create the .mo files? Please can you provide example code for just handling translation in a makefile.

Not seen any makefile before for just handling translation.

I just don't understand why this code has to be in the bb recipe, while NONE of the other plugins have or need that. Why do something different for this plugin than for all other plugins?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

No one says "have to". There was nothing in the plugin a makefile was needed for. Just install some .py files. Then the .po files got added. So I added the compile to .mo in the recipe.

Can you show an example of another plugin where the only purpose of the makefile is to add .mo files?

So what is this for? https://github.com/H.../po/Makefile.am

No, that is a makefile.am for just that directory. It then needs a makefile-am in every folder and a configure.ac.

That is a lot of work compared to a few lines in a bb recipe just to do the work that needs doing.

So lets reverse the question: why does that repo need a makefile, and others don't?

There are plenty (i.e. the vast majority) of plugins that are python only, and use gettext, and none of them have this code in the recipe.

I don't understand why different solutions need to be implemented for the same thing. If these "few lines" are some much simpler, why don't we then massively simplify all other plugins?

Because that repo has c++ code to compile.

And the others? Because since the birth of enigma it has had copy and paste merchants just copying stuff because they have no clue how it works.

Same in enigma python code. Just copy from one module to another because they have no clue how to inherit.

I know that. But that is not an excuse either to join them, or to make this issue worse.

Are you or are you not saying that for all python-only plugins with gettext, the makefile can be replaced by a few simple lines in a recipe ( for which we can make an include to simplify it even more, like we've done for pythonc compiles ) ?

I'm saying it is possible to have a repo with just .py and .po files and assemble it into a package in the bb recipe.

But what is possible depends on how the repo is structured, e.g. Bouquet_Maker_Xtream, descends through a string of empty folders: /BouquetMakerXtream/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/ and the .mo files are precompiled. This let's the recipe be simpler but the repo is a mess.

With DimitarCC's plugin the repo structure is minimalist simplicity and it is assembled into a package either by the bb recipe or using the build.sh included in the repo.
