Do new versions work on old VU+ ?

I have one of the first models of VU+ Ultimo (not 4K). Until version 7.0 I used OpenPLI with no serious trouble. But neither 7.1 nor 7.2 work on my stb. 7.1 can be installed and run, but WiFi does not work. 7.2 can be installed, but goes to infinite loop when starting. I tried different releases with the same results.

Configuration of my stb is the following:

CPU BCM7413B1 405 MHz (2 cores)

Memory 250 MB

Realtek RTL8192CU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter (was delivered together with the stb).

What may be a reason? Maybe, CPU is too slow or too few memory is installed. If the last case, may CPU and/or memory be replaced?
