So no doubt your TV set is also able to play the DolbyVision content with Kodi?

I have a mediaplayer which is capable of playing DolbyVision content but my 4k LG HDR10 projector isn't.

The shield tv mediaplayer doesn't indicate it is a Dolby Vision ready device.

On a tv set which is capable it does.

I am using for now only my PC, to exclude any solo4k or TV issues, the sample provided earlier do not work well on my PC either, but the samples from Kodi works well on my PC.

I am still not convinced that the DolbyVision is the issue here, i can play all the samples provided by Kodi here https://kodi.wiki/view/Samples

So, if i get an expensive TV that supports Dolby Vision and play the movie from my computer via HDMI (mirror) on my computer will have the colours scrambled but on the tv will be correct? My computer seems to have a Dolby VIsion compliant video card, cheap but compliant, iRiS xe, but does not want to correctly play that thing, tested in windows or linux, does not make any differences.

I prefer SDR format(yuv-4.2.2) on 4k films.

Most of 4k tvs(cheap ones) has fake HDR,HDR10 and HLG capabilities.     

So i cannot play that mkv on my PC? If i can, and use and hdmi cable to my cheap tv will not work?

I think this is partial right, but it depends on the decoder in my case my pc or solo4k i suppose, so it seems that we need a newer ffmpeg, at least on my pc, going to try to get a newer one
