I agree that support from a gstreamer developer is probably mandatory for the 1.x integration.
I also understand that convincing Enigma2 manufactures may be difficult. It is sad but understandable that no single manufacturer wants to pay for the benefit of all, and a cooperation of many would be difficult to organize.
That's why I'm planning to contact the gstreamer team directly, asking for support. I have already brought this up internally at openATV, and the first technical problem, donating a box to a gstreamer dev, seems solvable (thanks Thomas). Additional motivation (money) is probably impossible to raise. But having seen the "applications" web page of gstreamer, I got the impression that the team is a bit proud of their framework being used in so many applications, so maybe they could be willing to support us - as a result most Linux settop boxes would be using gstreamer.
However it would be an unlikely coincidence if any gstreamer dev was an Enigma2 dev at the same time. So I guess some support from an Enigma2 expert, preferably from someone who has already been working on the gstreamer integration, would be required. Are there any volunteers?
