Do you use a skin that closely monitors CPU-temp/fanspeed, etc.? This might interfere.

Try the default PLI-skin and verify whether it is solved now.

Another possibility: Did you park the picon-set on the HDD or on sd-card (internal cache). Keep 'em on sd-card.

I have installed picons on usb as i have mentioned in my earlier post. I do use Ai HD skin which gives the DB temperature on the navigation info bar. But I can't get the HDD temperature in this skin. Does it awake up  HDD to get temperature from its sensor ? But as you said i will test it with the default PLi skin. Also i am using the same skin in VIX with HDD going to standby after 5 min.

This is how I configured;

1- Fantype ----> 4pin

2- Min Speed RPM -------> 1000/1500 rpm

Now the temperature never go above 43

Thanks  everyone I have managed to control the temperature by installing fancontrol2, but OpenPLi coders really need to include a built-in plugin to address the temperature issue or fancontrol option like OpenVix becuase not everyone keeps an eye on temperature all the time and high temperature could damage either the box or the HDD. Any way I am going back to OpenPLi because of timeshift feature the way I like it.

It completely depends on where the temperature is measured. 50˙C air temperature may be worrying, on the sillicon die it's completely unimpressive.

>Have you installed fancontrol2 plugin to enable and control build in fan?

Its 29C in my location and solo box temp:

with timeshift auto on.

No, I have not tried  this plugin. I will test it and post the result thanks

I am not able to find fancontrol2 plugin. is it in the current OpenPLi feeds ?
