hello,
i have 2 questions,
i try to use the stream for more than one computer, but when a second vlc starts the firtst stops playing.

is there any way to do it?
And a second think is, that you must do something about openvpn support on dm500.

thanks!!

we must?...
Nobody needs openvpn, except people that really know what they're doing.
For everybody else, ssh tunneling is a better solution. And even then, normally a dreambox is behind a gateway, so vpn's and tunneling can be handled by the gateway.

So if you really need openvpn, I can only assume you know what you're doing, and how it works, and you will have enough knowledge about networks and linux to install it yourself.

OpenVPN is available for the DM500, 600, 7020 and 500+ but not the 500.
Many answers to your question can be found in our wiki: http://openpli.org/wiki

thanks!!

there is a way around this
have one PC connect to the dreambox with VLC
set vlc to show locally but also goto advanced (stream/save) and stream to http
(if necessary transcode pic down slightly depending on network performance)
the second pc connects to the first PC http stream
- from then on you can daisy chain PC's one to another or have a few connect back to the first PC

using this method I have had up to 5 PC's streaming the pic from one dreambox

its the same method I use to push dreambox content over a thin bandwidth connection because with transacode you can drop reduce pic quality and therefore bandwidth requirements

When a new stream is started, the other ones are stopped (the other zapstreams are killed). This is by design. The current design of one process per stream without them knowing about each other leads to unstable streaming on a dm500.
