Yes the streaming performance of the dm600 is much better. But this still won't get your stream through a standard adsl internet connection. You'll need an extra server with vlc to do transcoding. Search for re-stream if you want to know how.

I dont have adsl, I got 10/10 fibre mbit at the house where the dreambox are located. And at the house where I want to watch from my tv I got 100/100.

I allmost get it to work now with my dm 500, but it's buffring every other second.

I now use PLI image, before when I had an old image , Don't know witch scene it was made of. It worked properly.

Do you think It will work if I buy a dm600?

Oh wait. I forgot to look back in the thread. Well if the internet connection is steady a dm600 should work better.
Did I already told you to increase http access buffer time in vlc? Try values like 5 seconds or even more.

Go to preferences. Set it to advanced or all. Go to input/codecs. Go to access modules. Go to http. And set the buffersize in ms to 1000 or 5000, or even higher. Just experiment. Default is 300, which is too low usually.

I got this answer in another forum.

You can generally say that dm 500 you can't stream or record from network without lagg.

But some people get it to work by:

- Some images are better at streaming then others.

- Close down some services on the d-box.

- Only stream channels with low bitrate

- Some specific VLC versions works better than others

etc etc.

Dreambox 600, handles streaming muuuuch better. Than the 500.

Is this accurate?

I haven't bought an dm 600 yet, the main reason is that when I compare the 500c and 600c , reading the hardware facts, there seem not to be any difference at all.

So what is the difference?

Is there any services/programs on the dreambox that I can try to turn off without screwin something big up? So the dreambox uses less memory. I'm talking about my DM500.

There is not so much you can do. It will give you more memory, but it probably won't improve streaming.

Ok my DM600 arrived today, thought you guys wanted a update. So far I Can't get streaming with VLC work correct, BUT it works great with Windows Media Player. So it was totally worth it.

I think the picture quality on regular television improved to, can that be true?
