dreambox kernels are closed source by the manifacturor

The guy from this post resolved an issue.

only 1 option change is needed:
CONFIG_BRIDGE=y

This is only activating bridge feature on kernel. Before we can use it, we also need user space application, bridge-utils package, but i think this package should be fall into addon (not core module)

I do not need in changing kernel code source. We could include dvbnet support using utils sofware or e.g. But dvbnet also needs bridging enabled for transfering data beetween br0 and dvb0_0 interfaces
Thank you!!

CONFIG_BRIDGE is simple, but bridge-utils might be a problem, because you picked a very old box with a very old crossbuild system, for your project.

You definitely right: both of them.
I do have asus wl500 with linux dd-wrt on a board. I connect 3g modem to the divice via first usb port and the router get 3g internet. I mount hdd to the second usb port and the router get mass storage with shared data. Now i'm trying to connect the router to sat internet and share it to other users via Wi-Fi. The problem i met in
realizing my dream
is non working dvbnet.
I do have all nessesary tuned equipment: dish, dreambox, wl500, modem and so on. I also can provide access via telnet if someone wants to see how it works.
Thanks

use re-stream, search for it on google

even as it would work your internet upstream must have the bandwitch of the SD channel ;)
with re-stream you can set the bandwith of the upload

on the Glassfibre 1GB DVB-C...

Disregard the Re-Stream advice, I believe hemertje misunderstood, or I missed the part about streaming the DB over the internet... ;)

Me neither ;-)

But from the additional posts I guess he wants internet ACCESS
(comparable to adsl and cable internet) using his dreambox.

I have a strong gut feeling this is not going to work without heavy
modifications.

It works. The gemini image has dvbnet support but seems dvbnet interface does not bridged with br0 (lan) so i can't transfer data from satellite to lan.

I realize this post is pretty old but since i look at the same, i will post anyway... I think tun/tap is enabled on openpli dm500 image since r151 or so... Do you have dvbnet working on dm500 ?? Can you post your dvb_net.ppc as i would like to experiment with it... Got a Ka-band dish given to me with transmitter/receiver... I would like to receive only for now and i have a few dm500 laying around... it would be perfect for this job...

For those looking for the same as i do, here is something that works with all the tools you will need to make your dm500 act like a VSAT receiver
