Sinds een aantal dagen word mijn hdd een 500gb sata disk welke is meegeleverd door dm zelf niet meer herkend na een reboot van het systeem.

In het begin detecteerde de dm8000 de hdd de ene keer wel en de andere keer niet...

vreemd nu detecteerd de dm8000 mijn hdd helemaal niet meer?

ik draai op openpli firmware versie "OpenPLi-unstable-dm8000-20100817".

als ik de hdd op een pc aansluit dan word hij netjes herkend en kan ik hem ook formatteren...

hoop niet dat de sata aansluiting kapot is want volgens mij heb ik ook geen garantie meer ;-(

zal proberen een andere sata schijf te scoren ergens, om te kijken of deze het wel doet...

als ik via de serial console kijk dan zie ik verder niks vreemds:

Wat is de uitvoer van 'dmesg' als je hebt opgestart zonder dat de hdd herkend werd? De serial log zoals je die laat zien stopt te vroeg.

Bovenstaande logs beginnen zo te zien te laat. Wat je misschien ook kunt doen (maar ik heb geen dm8000, dus weet niet zeker of dat werkt)

Had nog even de nieuwste orginele dm firmware geinstalleerd, maar helaas gaf dat hetzelfde resultaat.

zat al even te kijken om de dm via RMA op te sturen en in het formulier stond standaard al "hardeschijf word niet herkend" als een van de mogelijke problemen,
zou dit kunnen wijzen op een veel voorkomend probleem?!? mmmh vreemd...

zal nog even die cmd's proberen....

Het vreemde is wel dat ondanks dat hij de module niet herkend ik nu wel meer info krijg van dmesg over ata...

Ook vreemd dat hij zegt "link down"... heb trouwens ook eens de power en sata kabel vervangen voor een ander exemplaar en dat gaf hetzelfde resultaat dus de originele zouden goed moeten zijn...

mmmh vreemd

Heb deze week de dm al vele keren een reboot gegeven,
maar na bovenstaande commandós kreeg ik na een normale reboot de hdd weer te zien???
heb de hdd geformatteerd en filesystem gechecked.
Na een 2e reboot was de hdd weer foetsie?!?
Na een 3e reboot was de hdd weer beschikbaar...

Huh hoe kan dit?

De dm8000 heeft het al zeker bijna 2 jaar zonder problemen gedaan...

Dat soort problemen heb ik op de Vu+ duo ook. Een soft reboot geeft regelmatig geen harde schijf. Een cold reboot (stroom er eventjes af) geeft wel altijd een harde schijf.

Overigens is 'grep ata' in dmesg |grep ata niet zo handig, want een regel als deze "ATA: abnormal status 0x7F on port 0xb051001c " krijg je daarmee niet te zien. dmesg /c maakt de dmesg log schoon, zodat de volgende dmesg alleen laat zien wat er in de tussentijd is bijgekomen.

Een echte oplossing heb ik niet voor dit probleem.

Hmmm, bekend probleem (in het algemeen). Kennelijk wordt niet altijd
alle hardware goed genoeg ge-reset met een doorstart. Als je weet dat je
een apparaat hebt die daar wel eens last van heeft, kun je het best
altijd power-cyclen.

dmesc -c, gebruik jij veel windows ofzo >:-)

Voor de grep moet je fgrep -i gebruiken. Fgrep is sneller omdat-ie geen
regular expressions doet en -i zorgt voor case-insensitive search.
