I tried last three beta of OpenPLi-beta-dm500-maxvar-xxxx and all have satellites.xml on read only system. Is that normal? I am trying to flash this for friend never have DM500 and i think this one is clone as there is no new DM500s arround.
The one which is current on flash is: OpenPLi-beta-dm500-maxvar-20110401-203.zip

Here is output from telnet:
PLi dm500 OpenPLi 20110401 (based on 1.09)

Why i wanna do that well i would like to rename 15.8E to 16.0E(eutelsat) and 0,8W to 1,0W(thor), as almost every settings list have these as position..

so almost every settingslist is incorrect... ;)

set your satellites.xml in the /var/.../... directory
in /var you can read and write

on the Glassfibre 1GB DVB-C...

So you are saying if i upload a satellites.xml to /var/tuxbox/satellites.xml it will be used instead the one on /share/tuxbox/satellites.xml ?
Sorry if that was newbie question but as i didnt find any other file on system i trough that are right and ONLY path for satellites.xml.

Well something i am doing wrong as i cant seletect 16.0 as LNB configuration because it isnt in list. I uploaded per ftp satellites.xml in /var/tuxbox/ from settings i downloaded. Then i checked with dreamset and wrote these settings to dm500s. Restarted dreambox but cant tune to channels from bouquets and dont have 16.0 as lnb position.
root@dm500 ~ # find / -name satellites.xml
/share/satellites.xml
/share/tuxbox/satellites.xml
/var/tuxbox/satellites.xml
/var_flash/tuxbox/satellites.xml
root@dm500 ~ # ls -al /share/satellites.xml
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root	root		 21 Apr  1  2011 /share/satellites.xml -> tuxbox/satellites.xml
root@dm500 ~ # ls -al /share/tuxbox/satellites.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 root	root 727285 Apr 1 2011 /share/tuxbox/satellites.xml
root@dm500 ~ # ls -al /var/tuxbox/satellites.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 root	root 299092 Jan 1 1970 /var/tuxbox/satellites.xml
root@dm500 ~ # ls -al /var_flash/tuxbox/satellites.xml

The actual path symlinked to in OpenPLi is /var/etc/satellites.xml - so this is where you should put your edited version.

Thanks that was it correct path was /var/etc/satellites.xml now i can select that satellit. Only problem is after I upload settings and wanna check bouquets from that sat i see "deleted service". A bit weird somehow..
Solved: needed to rescan that satellite and channel are again there showed with teir names and not as "deleted service"
