I turn on movie, turn on subtitles, wait few seconds and i see them on screen. And next sometimes they disapears in sound menu they are turned off and i have to once again turn them on. Also subtitles disappears when i move back/forward movie, not always, its random. Any solutions? DM 800 se, latest beta, but i have the same problem with earlier versions of PLI. Subtitles named same as movie. *.srt and coded in UTF-8. Please for help, beause i watch alot of movies and its annoying when you have to turn it on few times.

@Littlesat:
today i tried play .mkv with .srt in utf-8 with problems - on same place of movie subtitles disappearing. When I want it turn on again, movie continues, but OSD menu is black only. Use Exit and again. Same. After several trying no action of RC. I must turn off/on box.
Tried again - same.
I saw into .srt file and subtites disappearing on lines, where are only spaces (dont know, why exist in .srt, but exist). I must set there "." (point) and all is ok. Do you think, problem in gstreamer it can be too ?

Indeed looks like a (another) gstreamer bug to me.
OTOH imho it's completely pointless to add lines with only whitespace to a srt file?

I did not imply you did it ;-) I just cannot understand why "someone" would do it.
I have a perl script that sanitizes srt files before I add them (embedded) to mp4 files, guess I need to add this to it as well :-(

It's very simple, it rewrites the time codes so you can shift and squeeze/expand the subs for programs using different frame rates etc. It also concats multi-line subs to one line, so enigma can do the "proper" formatting instead of relying on what the subtitler decided. And it replaces " ," and " ?" sequences by ", " and "? " like it should. It shouldn't be that hard to expand it to also filter lines with only whitespace.

That's not my experience. As long as there is a space in between, it's fine with me.
Or you may be referencing to this phenomenon:
- person a says something
- person b says something
becomes
- person a says something - person b says something
I don't mind that.

Yes you do... If the subs renderer encounters a text consisting of two lines, when embedded in mp4, they are always shown as two separate lines, even if "reformat" is selected. You might want to have a look at that ;-)
Yes I know, I am the only one using the "reformat" option, I know ;-)

Do you think it's much work to implement it in srt / embedded as well?
Also there are some tiny bugs in the algorithm, which I plan to have a look at myself when I have the time for it :-/

Me neither, I was talking of tiny bugs LOL.
Sometimes many words in a sub get concatenated without whitespace, sometimes part of the first and last character on a (long) are cropped, sometimes a line gets wrapped at an illogical place, the next word is then in dark grey ink, and the rest of the line is okay. I've seen this only on BBC. Looks like some control character is interpreted incorrectly.

It's not only in the UK, it's common practise for teletext subtitles to have different colours for different speakers.

If you do not want these colors you can set use original colors to OFF...
@Erik, I now that you are able to create cpp code... so the rewrap for srt subtitles you can make by your own (I recommend to use the same rewrap setting as now for teletext rewrap)... the code that should be changed is in cpp code... /lib/gui/esubtitle.cpp.... then you are also able to make it exactly as you which...
