Now I don't have a clue what is going on

When will BackupSuite support  the VU Solo 4K?

I can make a backup but i can't restore a backup. I get an error message saying:  Sorry BackupSuite does not (yet) supporting VU Solo 4K (or something like that  ^_^ )

You're right, it can't be restored using the BackupSuite at the moment but you can always flash it like a new image.

If you mean the backup files made by the plugin autobackup, yes you can place this folder onto your usb-stick when you flash a new image. After flashin and rebooting keep the USB-stick attached and at the reboot the backup-files will be read and restored.

But if you have this folder backup already on your harddisk then it will be read and processed automatic after a flash of an new image.

It is not possible to extract files from the back-up made with the backupsuite, the restore process of the backup made with the backupsuite is all files or nothing

you only would need a good ubifs extractor to extract whatever you want :mellow:

Or a way to flash ext4 on the fly ...

No therefore you'll have to use the plugin autobackup

What i have to to with them, when i want to flash a new image with the old settings etc.?

Just let them in the folder backup. When you have the folder on your hard disk the backup of the setting will be automatic restored at first boot after the new flash.

The .tar files are compressed files which contains the folder structures and the files which are back upped

@mrvica

https://en.wikipedia...ech_(computing)

And yes, you can use tools like that to extract also an ubifs image - but as Pedro said - tar files are easier.

You can even use the standard eniga2 settings backup functionality as you can add whatever file and directory on top of the standard setting files from /etc.

If you had chosen the option "Create Autoinstall" in the plugin AutoBackup AND this plugin is available in the feed then it will be installed. For more information about the AutoBackup plugin and the option Create Autoinstall you'll have to search the forum a bit.

Backup Suite minimal version, without huge packages (mtd*), only files needed (found out with try and error method), tested on MastaG latest image, good if you don´t have internet connection and can´t download online, I don´t know how to make an .ipk file, can make only tar.gz archive, copy the file backupsuite.tar.gz in /tmp , then execute
tar -xzf /tmp/backupsuite.tar.gz -C /
