@nisse69, could you please configure your po editor not to wrap lines?
If I would commit this file, the diff would be huge (though you probably only modified a few messages)
see attachment

And the next time we merge the po files, that would cause another huge diff, because the messages are un-wrapped again.
So if it all possible, I would like to avoid that, and keep the diffs as small as possible.

What revision did you base it on? It does not apply to HEAD.

Hi !

How do i configure po edit for that pieterg.

Turns out poedit changed it's default from no-wrap to wrap, somewhere between 1.4 and 1.5
In recent versions they introduced a setting for this, while in 1.4 and 1.5 it's hardcoded.

So unfortunately there will be no easy way to ensure everybody uses the same wrap/no-wrap format...

As later versions of poedit use wrapping, it might make sense to use that in our makefile as well. However, I found that most translators provide po files without wrapping, that's why I used that format as a default for our makefile.

Poedit 1.4.6. is still working fine, the line wrapping was also for me the reason to downgrade to this version

I probably just regenerated the po files after you checked out the repository.
BTW, your po file has wrapping as well, so the diff is huge.
Could you try to save it with 1.4.6, or 1.6 (with the wrap setting disabled)?

Hi,
again a new version of de.po.

Just a quick question for all translators: do you need a plural form of this msgid in your language:
msgid_plural "Scanning - %d%% completed"

IMO we do not need it in german, italian and english, or at least they do not differ.
This may not be the case in other languages. I don't know.

Since we do not use the word "percent", but only the % sign, the plural should/could be the same for all languages.
But that's of course only a minor problem.

Thx for uploading

Hi.
Here's a first update for italian locale.
Non yet complete, and surely not perfect, but a little step as there was a lot to do...

BTW, I don't agree with philsmd: in italian we do need plural forms of this msgid, as far as they differ from singular.
Of course, it isn't mandatory: till now, we survived without plural forms, but often translators have to do some somersaults or use some very poor and not elegant tricks to translate.

Pleas elet me know if something doesn't fit your needs!

Hi,
@Spaeleus thanks for the italian version.

BTW, I know that we DO NEED mainly all of the plural forms that are inside the po file and I also translated all in the german version.

I only referred to that specific plural form:
"Scanning - %d%% completed"
where the plural of that in english is also:
"Scanning - %d%% completed"
In german the plural of that SPECIFIC msgid does also not differ from the singluar. I think this splitting of plural/singular for that "completed" msgid is NOT necessary. But in general we DO need some plural forms of course.

I think this specific plural msgid is a "remainder" of one of the last commits of @pieterg, when he did this conversion/splitting:
"Scanning - %d%% completed, %d channels found" => 1. "Scanning - %d%% completed" 2. "%d channels found"

Mainly, he splitted the initial msgid into 2 separate ones. IMO the first does NOT need a plural, the second one of couse does need the singular/plural forms.

Hope now it was more clear what my question is.

I'm still not sure if others (languages) need a plural also for this specific msgid, but I cannot find one where the plural is not "embedded" into the % symbol.

Best

like it was explained in one other topic - it's no % itself that need multi plural form, but in some languages, in such expression, 'completed' word ending varies, depending if it's 1, 2 or 5% completed...
True sarcasm doesn't need green font...

Thanks!
