Hi,

Today when I made a clean install of stable openpli 6.1 20180402 version, I noticed that, my translations are not included in this version. How can it happened? When I was worked on the translation, i put the .mo file by myself to the receiver so I did not know that there is this problem. And now I saw all of my work is gone. Please help me in it. Thank you.

Now I noticed that, someone made 12 days ago a change to the hungarian translation. Maybe he translated the old file, and uploaded that? :(

There are no code changes in release images. The updates only include data files, xml's, channel lists, picons, etc. It will be part of the next release image, which is due any day.

I made a lot of changes to the hungarian translation in the end of February. Still the 20180402 does not include it? Users have to wait for the next base version (6.2) to have the new translation?

Okay, no problem, please ASAP attach the newest translation file, to the 6.2. It is almost 100%. And if next version will include it, there will be no more problem with hungarian translations in the future. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I need some help. There are some problems with the hungarian translation. There are a lot of missing lines in the hu.po file. It was updeted always by pot files, so I don't know how could it happened. If I open en.po file, it writes there are 3375 section. If I click on make a translation from this, and select hungarian language, 3375 increases to 3457. How can it happen? Is there a solution to fix the hu.po file? Or I need to make a new translation from original en.po and copy one by one the translations from old hu.po? And the 3457 lines hu.po will be good instead of 3375 line en.po from which it started?

Sorry maybe I asked a lot of stupid questions, but I would like to understand how there things are work. Please tell me understandably. Thanks in advance.  :)

Hi,

If you update from the enigma2.pot file that I regularly post here you have all the strings in your hu.po files so don't worry.

What can happen is that some old string remains in the files (no longer used) with PoEdit if you go in the catalog menu, there is an option to clean up all the no longer used translation. I used it sometimes on the fr.po translation too and this gives no problem.

About untranslated strings, some menus are not directly part of enigma2 but from extensions that are installed by default in OpenPLi image. So some translations need to be done for the extension itself and not in the enigma2.

So if you find an untranslatable strings you can always report the path to access it and we can look if it is part of enigma2 or part of a plugin or extension.

Hi,
I've finally completed a full review of Enigma2 italian translation together with plugins delivered on OpenPLi releases.

I put everything in the following repo with the complied .mo file and a readme with instructions so anyone can test it:

https://github.com/Gringit/OpenPLi

@OpenPLi team: can you please commit the files? Or just only Enigma2 translation?

Regards,
Gringo

Hi,

You don't know what I am talking about. For example: In en.po find "ext3" word. You find 3 items. And after it... check hu.po, find for "ext3" you don't find anything. And not this the only.

If a language file is not updated a long time ago, and a translator get the hu.po and do not find pot files just start the translation of the hu.po and upload here to the site, maybe there will be missing sections. Am I right? Maybe this happened with hungarian translation. Is there a method to check this? And what about what I wrote last time? "If I open en.po file, it writes there are 3375 section. If I click on make a translation from this, and select hungarian language, 3375 increases to 3457. How can it happen?"

Thanks in advance. Waiting for a solution.

I've created a pull request with a zip file attached.

Say me if this method is correct or steps to load the .po file in the PR.

Hi,

As already explained to you, the strings are evolving with image version and changes in source code. So some string that are used in former images no longer exist in the very latest version.

Typically this is the case for the "ext3" strings, in the previous image there was an option to convert the ext3 partition table into ext4, this option is no longer available.

But in the en.po file those obsolete string remains in it, if you open up the en.po in PoEdit and go into Catalogue then delete the obsolete string they will be discarded from the en.po file.

en.po:#~ msgid "Convert ext3 filesystem to ext4"

en.po:#~ msgstr "Convert ext3 filesystem to ext4"

en.po:#~ msgid "Convert ext3 to ext4"

en.po:#~ msgstr "Convert ext3 to ext4"

en.po:#~ msgid "Converting ext3 to ext4..."

en.po:#~ msgstr "Converting ext3 to ext4..."

As you can see those strings start with a #~  this means no longer used strings and can be delete without any problem.

So here is a cleaned en.po and the latest enigma2.pot file.

So the real reference is the enigma2.pot file and not any other .po files even the en.po is not the reference file.

@developers,

Can you consider to change the Makefile to delete each time the obsolete translation strings to always keep the generate .po files clean by using the msgattrib --no-obsolete option?

I have create a Pull Request that clean up every po file in the develop branch to delete all the obsoletes strings.

I have close the PR because I saw that the modified .po files are now wrapped and I know that you prefer the no-wrap version.

Will the command removed untranslated strings?

What about if the .po file have more strings than .pot file?

Hi,

No the untranslated strings will of course remains in the files, only the obsolete strings will be removed (= strings that are no longer used in the source code, because the functionality is dropped or the text in the source has changed).

If you have more strings than in the pot file this means that the extra strings are obsolete ones, and they will then be deleted.

If you manually add strings in the .po file that are not part of enigma2.pot but used for some plugin/extension then you did it the wrong way!  The translation for the plugin / extension must be part of them, so they must be in there respective repositories and not included in the enigma2 one.

Hi,

The PR on github with the hu.po gives trouble, so I pick up the file from your PR and correct it then regenerate it with the latest strings.

So please review the attached file (there are some translation missing and some are under "to be reviewed" status) and then please submit a new PR.

Thanks,
