Hello there
I have a genuine DM500HD and made the usb fix on it. I am using v2.1 build of 09/08/2012 (online updated)
I have connected a external powered, protected usb hub on it and have a 8GB flash disk permanently used as a storage device for epg , etc.
Everything works very good.

When i try to play a video file the receiver freezes. The only way to unfreeze it is to reboot it.
in particular the freezing occurs about 1-5 seconds after the playback. I am using the default playback plugin provided by openpli.
I have tried two external 2,5 disks formatted in fat32 and ntfs, also usb drives and sd class10 cards with adapters, formatted as fat32 as well.

I have tried numerous xvid or mkv's.

I there any chance i create a log so it may help you understand what the problem is?

The usb interface might be too slow. Try copying a file from the usb device to /dev/null and measure how fast it goes.

dd if=/media/hdd/ashortmovie.mkv of=/dev/null

I don't know how fast is fast enough, but I guess it should be above 2MB/s.

BTW could you post a link to the usb fix?

I am talking about the dm500hd usb hardware modification to enable the usb (you remove one resistor). Do you need an link for that?
