First of all, thanks for the work that has been done on this image. Browsing the web does pop up OpenPLi on many international forums these days. Best of all, OpenPLi has it's roots in my own country and lives open-source.
So, I've been with my Dreambox 800HD Se for some time, and there are inconvenient changes going on. Dream-Multimedia decided to release more and more closed source code, and it threatens the future of OpenPLi for Dreambox. OpenPLi is moving on it's own way which goes well, but the attitude of Dream dislikes me.
Now, why not change from box? The Dreambox is still a valuable box to sell second-hand, and can be replaced without losses by a Extrend XT4000 or Maxdigital XP1000. As far as I can see, the XT4000 brings a better CPU, 1080p(50/60) support (I'm on CRT, but still), more RAM, HbbTV and all the open code OpenPLi needs. There is no (e)SATA support, but this wasn't used in my 800 se cause of NFS mount points.
Any strong arguments NOT to switch (or go XP1000)? The build quality (and remote) is probably Dreambox' selling point, but now it seems the best time to sell a Dreambox. Even the remote can be used on the XT4000 I saw.
Thanks, and will donate soon
(and this should be in Lounge and now it's here , oops)
