What I don't understand is why my AF9015-stick still works with the OpenPLi image of 2013-07-19 with kernel 3.8.7?

Not that it always works flawlessly, now and then I have to reboor to make it work again, but right now I can watch with it.

Hmmm I have no clue. Mine is a Leadtek WinFast DTV Dongle Gold, and it does work flawlessly under Enigma2, as long as the box boots up fine.

By the way, this is a KERNEL OOPS. Most of the time this means a bug in a driver (in this case indeed the USB stick).

 

Considering the different issues with different drivers, is it not better to roll-back to the previous version of kernel+drivers? It seems this is version 3.6.0 on et-view.com?

I think there are also issues that have been solved using the new kernel and drivers, but I am not sure, I don't have any Xtrend receiver myself.

OK, thanks to betacentauri who has built from source manually all the stuff against the 3.6.0 kernel. As soon as I get back from my holiday in the week-end, I'll try with that.

 

I'm definitely considering to run my own build-server too.

Agree fully. Or at least, do not drop completely the fully functional previous version, until 100% confirmed, that everything works on the new one.

But that doesn't make happy most people, who already bought hardware, not working with 3.8.7. It's not user's fault - and by dropping functional kernels, no choice left...

yes, but when we would revert to 3.6.0, we would make several of the remaining 99% of the users unhappy.

So we stick to the 3.8.7 version, which is best for most. We cannot make everybody happy.

Tested today's OpenPLi-3.0-beta-et6x00-20130731, and it seems to work fine with the af9015 USB DVB-T tuner stick, thanks to Pieterg's magic kernel patch.

Ps. Does your stick work on a windows machine with proper drivers?
