@Acds,

some other things to consider.

On the mapping page:

Instead of a white cross for sellecting the link, imho a green tick (as in the first page) would look better.

Some info about the different text coulour used. As it is, there is, white, light yellow and bright green.

Some reference (sat or provider) to the individual channel.

chers Col

Yeah, I was planing to add the help screen with that info.

@Acds,

after yesterdays play around I'm going to try and highlight (with pics) some of the strange thing that occoured, that I didn't have time to post. So unlike the previous rambling they will be individual so it will be easier to address. I susspect most will be related to mapping.

Cheers Col

@Acds you have a pending invitation to join the "devs" group on e2openplugins. You should accept the invitation and then push your project to e2openplugin-EPGImportFilter (the original, not your forked version). If that's ready, I can make a bb file in e2openplugins that will pull your plugin in with the build.

I have mixed bouquet loaded and only Rytec Germany Epg. When trying to map some channels some would map automaticaly (pic 16) (seems thats when they have a light Yellow colour) and others refused (pic 17) even though the channel was clearly visible in the previous view. Pressing button "1" didn't bring anything up but buttons "2" & "3" got the best results. (pic 18).

So I ask is there any real need for the 3 buttons when 1 could suffice, leaving them free for future use.

Yeah let me explain. This info will be shown on the help screen.

Yellow entries are auto-mapped by channel ref.

Green entries are manual mappings loaded from previous session.

Button 1 will match channel name with all epg names with 50%/10% similarity and first letter equal. It will show top 10 matches.

Button 2 will match with 50%/10% similarity and first letter equal but top 30 entries.

Button 3 will match with 50%/10% similarity without first letter filter and top 50 entries.

The general idea is to always go with 1 because it will most likely show best result. If that fails then proceed matching with 2 and 3.  Idea behind this UI is to make eye-matching for the channel as fast as possible, for a person doing the comparation.

Yellow and green entry will never disappear from the list. Reason for this is obvious, after doing the 1,2,3 search the yellow or green entry might not be on the list at all ( top entries ) and we should not lose them if we want to revert the change.

>f you lucky it should look like this (pic 10) which is my UK News bouquet and mapped straight away. Only problem was it >wouldn't let me change the mapping ?

From your previous post. If you wan't to un-map the auto-map you do that on the right side list. Left side list mark is only cosmetic. So when you press ok on the left side list it will switch you to the right side. Then pressing ok again will mapp/unmap the channel. This allows not only channel mapping but channel unmapping ( you wan't some channels not to fill epg even if they are in the selected bouquet). Those channels will get red cross icon.

For example, XML import data is quite accurate but not accurate enough for Spanish channels ( c+ deporte for example). You unmap that channel and do the CrossEPG mhw import for that specific channel while you keep all other channels filled from epgimport XML procedure.

EPGImport should have mhw source as import procedure just as CrossEPG plugin. Then the crossepg would be obsolete, maybe something to work on in the future..

In your EPGImportFilter folder there is configuration file that contains all your manual mappings so backup that file and you are safe.

had try this morning and all is looking good including the skin very nice. No crashes.

Maybe change the "ticks" for "X" or vice versa.

Question, whats de-install for on first page ?

Separate issue this morning I am trying to filter down the UK Epg as there are loads of programs I never watch (desellect) and I the "Load Epg" with

"Rytec-UK-XMLTV" but it only loads 3 epg programs. (see pics).

ah  Acds,

found out what "De-install" on first page does.....

Maybe needs a condfirmation Dialogue  "Are You Sure You Want to Delete All Your Filtered Channels"

At least we know it works.

Update

Had a succesfull afternoon, filtering my epg with EPGF.

Across 5 satellites (28e, 23.5e, 19.2e, 13e & 30w) I have managed to reduce it from 40Mb epg.dat to 12Mb epg.dat This equates to approximately 200,000 events.

Also instead of the usual 45 minutes it took just 16. That includes full (filtered shopping/sex-chat/religion/), UK, Portugal & Spain.

Actually for 28e (single provider) it is imho easier & quicker to make a bouquet of the full satellite and filter it from there. Then delete the bouquet Then all changes are applied across whatever bouquets at one time.

Thanks to the Rytec Team for excellent Sources :)

@Acds,

there are a couple of things that maybe you could look into.

As mentioned earlier, "De-Install", could do with a warning.

Also I noticed that when on page 2 "Advanced mapping" when scrolling in the epg window, sometimes the sellection will jump back to the channel window.

Using up arrow you can see the original channel still in yellow. (Pics in sequence)

I also noticed that because I have already loaded my epg before using EPGF that I can map the UK channels. Before "Load EPG" would only gives me 3 channels ?

Problem with UK epg source is that it had different encoding then rest of the epg sources. Made changes to the code to adapt to the epg source encoding before parsing it

Added warning before uninstalling and changed cross icon to the standard check icon.

Yeah, I think so.

@Acds,

sorry for the delay in getting back (shopping), but have more time for feedback this week.

The last changes you made are very good, UK loadepg is working, tidy "filteredchannels.xml", cosmetic changes are looking much better and "Warning Message" excellent.

However, it's still a little confusing on what is happening on exit.

exp:

After (mapping/save/install), do you leave sellected "Load Epg" entries sellected or un-sellect them (for some reason I find you have to leave at least one entry), maybe this should be auto-unselect ?, as they are still there when you return for other changes. The same question could also apply to the "Bouquet Selection" (page 1) ?

Not sure, if I can make incremental changes in one visit, or have to leave EPGF and start freash with next/separate bouquet ?

cheers Col
