@albsky: I don't say it is a bad box. HW is very good. And when the drivers mature in a couple of months and all features are supported I may even buy it. I just don't like this behaviour from companies that make their customers beta testers. They should pay beta testers, not get paid from them!

Well, all of you who are irritated that functions do not work when the release of the hardware. When was the last time, something was launched that just worked on day one. Why would there ever be a driver update, firmware update, software update. If you could just get i right the first time. Correct they should pay beta testers. But nowhere in the industry, it's possible to have a massive group to test your products if they are related to hardware. The hardware is expensive, and you cannot distribute it with no cost involved, like the software companies does. Also, if it was so easy to make something right, why has eg. OpenPli never left beta. ? and why are there updates every day. Just do it right the first time. I'll give you that the marketing spin, should state that functions are in development and subject to change and evolve. But instead of whining about it, why not just embrace some of the most BadAss hardware on the market, and start utilizing it ? ?

Hi,

beta test is good and I was once part of a beta group but it does not speed up adding all features. Large number of beta tester is not the same as more devs. In Korea the day also only has 24h and when there are not enough devs all takes longer. It is same all over the planet.

ciao

Because was done before with other new hardware projects which never materialized.

These so called marvels of technology never reach out their true potential because manufacturer only

pushing new products out the door for profits and purposely never correct / improve their development

by adding the features which HW is capable. And top of that they seem to follow other lead

in enigma2 development which is not what it should be done with this badass hardware.

They also should come up with their own spin , not continuously copying others.

Why should be different this time ?

I am in this hobby for a long time now, and I have never seen a product doing everything from the beginning, hence there were different developer teams that are created after Enigma 1 and then Enigma 2 came from DMM.

I believe that except for DMM no other producer has created a real Developing Team since everything is based on an well established product as Enigma 2.

And, yes, I know that I have to pay extra for being an early adopter, but what other choices do I have, so kudos to VU+ for bringing the first HEVC receiver in the market, at the same time that news from DMM are that they finally managed to produce the first DVB-S2 dual tuner :-)

So in your view everything is dandy ?

This looks a lot like In Orwell`s book where he said ignorance is strength.

Ignorance is to discuss SD in the era of 4K HDR.

So, I feel your strength.

I remember the days of DM7000. I volunteered to DMM to become a beta tester. They offered me a 10% discount from the original price.

And I can assure you that the software/drivers/features of that product where nowhere near the current state of Solo 4K.

Perhaps you have been around, too. 2002-2003?

The Blackhole review is hiding all issues. I found many issues just by testing it for half an hour, they don't mention anything.

1. USB tuners don't work due to driver misconfiguration. After installing a usb tuner, I get:
[ 3.826608] bh_dvb_core: exports duplicate symbol dmx_swfilter_hook (owned by kernel)

2. SAT>IP doesn't work at all.

3. XBMC still 13.2 like other VU+ boxes, while 15.2 exists

4. Minimum SoftCAM compatibility (actually only OSCAM)

And I still haven't tested the box media compatibility (image uses gstreamer 1.4.5) and tuners compatibility.

sundtek USB tuners work, they very quickly modified their installer to call for the correct driver.

Ignorance is exactly that: to ignore existing standards (SD) and sell a product which does not have an established standard yet.

And have a bunch of ignorant followers which don`t have idea what they are talking about...

To express that even better: if it`s black and shinny it must be good..let`s buy this thing. :)

I can answer you the same as you did.  It was not intended to hit base ..but it seems you got hit.

I really not want to become a topic of insults. I only added to this topic to point out that other options exist out there.

Over and out.

Same here albsky, i bought it for the FBC tuners and 1080P video mode, all the rest i do not care about. I thought the price was worth it based on my needs. But i've got VTI to work for my needs, and can select another skin. Sorry for trying to be helpful to the rest of you.

I have installed OpenATV, changed to OpenPLi skin, removed all fade in/out or animations, set the second infobar as always, and now it seems I have my old box

plus the ability to stream multiple channels to other rooms(yes I have even a 50$ Android device, but I let my 5 year old son play with it), and yes HEVC decoding(less space for downloaded movies, UHD or not) and yes, I can receive first UHD channels broadcasted via satellite.

This is what I was looking for in the first days of the first 4K/HEVC receiver and yes, I'm an ignorant for ignoring some people's opinions.

Most channels are still SD, even in richer countries than mine. In Greece most major channels are SD. Only some pay tv movies and sports are HD. So a new box supporting 4K should also have good quality on SD playback. At least the same quality as the boxes from previous generation. I guess VU+ will eventually address this issue, but not mentioning it or pretending it does not exist or it does not matter is wrong.

I didn't jump to DM box from the start, because I didn't want to be a beta tester. At that time I was using a Linux box with Hauppauge DVB-S Nexus card and VDR, and Multidec on Windows.

I agree that SD quality matters, and of course must be addressed.

But the HW is there and it's a matter of time I suppose.

BTW, what "Linux Box"? Or trying to say Linux PC?

Yes, a PC (I guess it was implied since I mentioned about the Happauge DVB-S Nexus which was a PCI card). Unfortunately I wasn't aware at the time about dbox2 and Nokia boxes.

What is it that is so terrible about the SD performance, i can't see it, mine looks fine ? . Regarding which cams that to work, how can that be VU+ problem, are they the developer for the CAMS ? XBMC ect. in my knowledge, these are not VU+. Also XBMC does not exist anymore, it's called Kodi. But i might be ignorant. I've bought a DVB-S receiver. Nothing more. This job it does perfect in my opinion.

Who said it is terrible? I mentioned that when compared (in A/B test) with the SD quality of VU+ Solo2, it is more than obvious (at least in my eyes) that the quality is worse. From a new STB I expect at least equal performance with it's predecessor (VU+ Solo 4K is the upgrade for Solo2), not worse.

The product works as advertized.

What is advertized and doesn't work?

As for the 30€ receiver, does it have:

Dual Core CPU

4GB EMMC

2GB Ram

2 FBC Tuners

Dual DVB-T2/C tuner

WiFi integrated

PVR functions, with the nice touch of how the HDD is inserted

USB 3.0?

Mine DOES!

Well, Correct, but i need the Tuners (hence the upgrade from the Ultimo), I really can't find any advertised features that are missing. I'm rather impressed actually with the stability. Even though i run a "secondary" image. Even the Add-on tuner i bought with it, worked out of the box. I don't get why people are so furious regarding this box.
