How much money have you been donating to the PLi team?
Since when do you have the right to complain about the development of a free software image? What obligation does the PLi team have towards you? Did you buy anything from them?

 

 

Are you the lawyer of the team? I don't think so. You are also waiting for open-Pli 5, am I right? So, what are you talking about, du Hirsch, du damischer?

 

So are you the manager that can decide when a version should be released, or the judge to rule when a team is slow or fast?

Anyway, this is not about money, it's about work to be done. The only way to get it finished sooner is more people to do the work. Simple as that.

At the moment I don't see any need for OpenPLi 5 for myself. My et9500 does what is written on the box so it meets my expectations very well.
I update my box every couple of months with a fresh flash and in between it is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I have a huge amount of respect for the PLi team, the amount of work that is involved in something like this is huge and all team members are doing it in their spare time besides their normal daytime jobs and they have family and friends as well so basically I don't care if it takes another year. It's better to wait for a good image than a rushed image which is buggy.

I have given up with openPLI-5, because it will never come. And in OpenPli-4 you have GStreamer 0.10, the oldest of the world. Why you can't implement a higher GStreamer in OpenPli-4, I will never understand this?

1. Install an up-to-date Linux, preferably Debian based, like current Debian, Ubuntu or Linux MiNT; either on bare metal or inside a virtual machine, make sure the partition holding /home has at the very least 40-80 GB free
2. Boot it
3. Create some regular (unprivileged = not root) user but with sudo capabilities (The default user should do)
4. Start a shell using that user
5.

sudo apt-get install -y autoconf automake bison bzip2 cvs diffstat flex g++ gawk gcc gettext git-core gzip help2man ncurses-bin ncurses-dev libc6-dev libtool make texinfo patch perl pkg-config subversion tar texi2html wget zlib1g-dev chrpath libxml2-utils xsltproc libglib2.0-dev python-setuptools zip info coreutils diffstat chrpath libproc-processtable-perl libperl4-corelibs-perl sshpass default-jre default-jre-headless java-common libserf-dev qemu quilt

mkdir -p ~/pli50 && cd ~/pli50

git clone https://github.com/OpenPLi/openpli-oe-core.git -b master-next

cd openpli-oe-core

MACHINE=vuduo make image

10. Wait for some hours .... actual building time depends highly on CPU power and harddisk performance, but it won't get much faster than 1h
