Hi,

Sorry to escalate this post but I have a small problem. Today the hide VBI mention is stored in the lamedb.

When I perform a new scan I always set the delete before scan to yes but then the hide VBI is lost too.

So after a scan I need to set again all hide VBI flags for those channels.

Do you think possible to keep the hide VBI flag when scanning (even if delete before scan is set)?

Won't it be possible to enable globally the hide VBI option instead of having to set it each time on individual channel?

Thanks,

Pr2

That's lame about lamedb....

We need to put the flags and cached PIDs etc in a different file... so the that info is kept after a skin or load of new settings... But this is a design of a new feature...

Globaly hide this line is not smart as it simply blanks a few lines of video on every channel....

Yes but it is boring to have to do it again and again on every channels after a "clean" scan. So a global parameter will avoid this boring part once for all.  ;)

Ideally the data is stored in a database instead of a file, so some data can be updated without impact to related data.

It does require an update to the internal API, and the creation of an external API to external processes (channel editors, plugins) can interact with it without impacting integrity, which is the core issue.

Oh, and it requires someone to do it.

Yes but then you don't have a clean scan, if a channel has been deleted on a TP it will remains in the lamedb.

I asked it to make a global ON/OFF parameter on first page of this topic, and I got some negative answers like:

Because most channels do not have that ugly line...

and I ask....... What happens if you hide these lines, and there is really nothing to hide ??

well, enable / disable this option on some correctly broadcasted channel, paying special attention on the very top of the screen and you'll see ;)

in fact this option does not make this dotted line disappear somehow magically, it just simply covers up certain displayed area with a dark line...
so, regarding the 'global' option - not sure if anyone would prefer to have (very slightly, but still) cropped image on all channels in favor of working around broadcaster's garbage on a one or two, but, opinions may vary of course...

You can store the 'flags' and 'caches' in a separate file... and when you 'reload' the settings we can clean up the 'flag' file -or- add a UI feature to clean up the flag file...

And if you go for a separate file then please also enable the option to disable the EIT current/next individually per channel/service.  ;)  This is also a long waited feature.

@jpuigs,

I know that we already ask to have it global but I try again the request pointing out an annoying behavior when rescanning a TP.

With a global parameter everybody will be happy, people keep turn it off if they dislike it and they can still make it individuals like today.

And other people that don't care to have a dark line can enable it once of all.

The global option will bring the best of the two worlds.

please also enable the option to disable the EIT current/next individually per channel/service.

Why?....

A global setting to hide the VBI lines is not done...

The problem is a side effect how it works with clean scanning and that should be solved...

Because I like to have EIT current/next enable to have the lastest EPG TV changes displayed (like yesterday a famous french singer died so most of the TV channel changed their programs), but I also use Rytec EPG.

On some channels, some broadcasters are not capable to provide the correct EPG informations and instead of leaving it blank they think it smart to send "No EPG available" but Rytec is capable to grab and display the proper EPG.

So in the infobar it is always the EIT EPG which is displayed when present but in the Graphical EPG I can see the proper Rytec EPG.

So for the channel that have this EIT EPG current/next behavior (No EPG available) I would like to be able to ignore it so I will have the Rytec EPG informations in the infobar instead.

Today it is not possible to disable it.

If I remember well there is already an hidden feature (which has no GUI) to disable the EIT EPG for a full broadcaster ID but not for individual service EIT EPG.

Very good point regarding disable/enable EIT per channel.

It has indeed been a long-awaited feature so if there is someone who can do it I would also appreciate it.

those lines make me annoyed too, I made a plugin and it does what´s supposed to do, hides two VBI lines on top of the screen, copy to extensions and restart enigma2
