I think the code is ok now, you wan´t need this plugin in recent OpenPLi, it is for OpenPLi before mid 2016 or as alternative, should work in HD and FHD skins as well, the code is mostly taken from PermanentClock plugin, it hides those annoying VBI lines on top of the screen

just wondering, how many channels affected with this issue you have to had (and actually watch), to find setting this 'hide vbi line' per channel that effortful... B)

I saw 2 or maybe 3 here, which I rarely watch anyway (?)

It would be better if we develop a system where we can store the stored PID caches and flags undepended from lamedb... so after a settings upgrade the flags and cached PIDs (subtitles, languages) keep the same as you had before... This does not only solve this VBI hide issue. That also solves other issues....

By E.g. store the flags in a different file than lamedb... and after upgrading the settings clean up that new 'flag' file.

Agreed.

But that requires a completely new way handling lamedb info, a new API, discussions with editor makers, etc. Quite a bit of work, which requires careful design and planning, not something for a rainy sunday afternoon... ;)

Hi,

For people asking how many channels, I can told you that on Hotbird provider BIS many have channels the VBI lines, and also on my cable providers many channels have those VBI lines.

It can also happens that some channel only display them on some TV Show (or older TV shows that are broadcasted again), so when this happens I also enable the line hidding for those channels.

So I my case this impact more than just 2 or 3 channels.

Yes indeed... But I tried something that should not depend on settings editors...

A few months ago I made something with a seperate flagsdb file (just to five it a name). This was just an extra file that was created and only includes service references, the flags and the cache... With saving the settings this was created. With reloading the settings it was read after the load of the normal settings (and only those flags and cached PIDs from the services that exists in the settings). But this means the flagsdb will grow and grow (with non anymore existing services references) and I stoppen my small project because I could not find an 'autoclean' mechanism. I was thinking about directly remove the non existing services in flagsdb after the reload settings by saving the flag and cached pids after the relead. But when you test some settings in this case you still can loose flags and cached PIDs...

Actually the current settings editors do not need to write/create the flagsdb file... it could only be helpfull when they read it.

So I stopped the 'project'....

By the way, the black and white line is covered in the main window but is not covered in PIG. Is this intended?

In the pig it is not hidden indeed...it is not made because it is not made.. and somehow difficult. For a black background skin doable but what if... and it should be added when you show the pig... which makes it quite a bit complicated.

Indeed: many services are affected by this issue.

Also on channels that are normally fine, sometimes footages is transmitted that does show the ugly line(s).

It is the channels that are doing at -and- the provider that are doing it... And indeed it's ugly.... Therefore I solved it for full screen... Doing it for PIG is not done as a part from the skinning should be involved there...

The two upper lines can easily be permanently hidden in PiG. There is absolutely no harm done and a waste of effort trying to do that dynamically. In such a small window no one will miss less then 0.2% of the vertical resolution.

Nope...

Explain: When e..g. your skin has a blue background you simply cannot cover it with a black line...

It seems other skins have old DMM code there, where the PIG is zoomed in for x % soo you do not see the VBI lines. We remove this years ago as this is also not done and had side effects.

Therefor below my out-of-the-box comment...

When you do not want to see the VBI lines in PIG mode I suggest it is better to modify the skin and let the skin draw (always) a correct colored line on top of the PIG with a bit higher Z-position... I suggest this is also the most easiest fix. I also suggest for the PIG it does not really harm when always the top is covered for 1 line in the skin....

My idea was not to hide via E2, but in the (your) skin.

It may be tricky to get just a tiny bit of overlap of the skin over the PiG widget. Also that means the skin must not be transparent, not a tiny bit, as well as the global setting.
