When you see it click it and then do not see it anymore on that channel.... all at once makes no sense... it is not good to always blank the top 2-3 lines... better solve the issue when channels are scanned new etc.... instead working around something with a q&d plugin...

Littlesat why do you always think that you have the best solution and best approach?

Why don't you open your mind to other people suggestion.

From the beginning I asked to have the hide VBI line a global parameter, and I think that's why Mrvica creates this "must have" plugin.

I think that in your day-to-day usage you only have a few channels affected by this problem, but people who watch french channels are facing it more often than you think.

Moreover french guys changes there channel references every 3 months so what when a channel reuse another one SID to exchange there position in the official channel list, you will then have channels with the hide vbi active where it should not (as a purist).

So please you have it all to make it a global option please go for it for people that want to use it. I am not asking to suppress the individual hiding I just ask you to extend it for people that want to enable it once for all. I understand that you won't enable it yourself but please respect other opinion too.

Let me give you another exemple, my father is a real TV fan, I was never allowed to suppress the overscan on its TV to have full image due to those white dotted lines. He preferred to lose border image and not being annoyed by dotted lines.

Since I have installed the Mrvica plugin I have disabled the overscan and my father is very happy because he is no longer annoyed by the white dotted. He doesn't want to use your individual channel solution he wants a global one.

So some people don't care to lose 2 lines on top of the screen...

And why it is not good to hide 2 lines?

I guess that then you should never look at a movie on your TV because you also have black border on top and bottom...

If this gives real trouble to LCD screen, it is not really your problem if I need to purchase a new TV screen... even if there are absolutely no clue why this can harm my TV.

To be honest since day 1 that Mrvica release its plugin it is installed and enabled on all my STB and guess what my TV are still running fine. And when i reinstall an image it is part of my script that reinstall my favorites plugins.

So I can live without the global option thanks of the plugin, but it is just sad that everything is in OpenPLi for it, and just because you judged that nobody needs it it is not implemented as a global option.

You really don’t understand..... just hiding it on all channels is your choice... than use the plugin.... note it should simply work as it is for only the ‘crappy’ channels that need it... no need for permemently hide it (while having also on the osd the top lines black). And for you better to find a way to store the flags... or have a set all or clear all flags function or so somehow.

You really don't understand that with some providers this is totally painful to set this flag per channels and that after a few months you will have channels that will have the lines hidden even if they don't need them and you will have to set it on other channels or even during some shows.

So you always need to have the RCU in hand while watching TV to be ready to set the flag if by mischance this is not set to this channel and the program they broadcast at this specific time display them.

Please open your mind! Not everybody is using its receiver the same way as you do.

And I never had problem with your skin, so please point me to the screens where I miss important information provided by the skin due to this plugin.

Or set the flag at once for a complete user bouquet feature? I’m just suggesting some other solutions than a q&d plugin... so when you see the bouquets, menu, add option to set the flag dotted lines for all services within that userbouquet... my mind is even more open as you think! You are now blindstaring at a plugin.... (I think we should try to improve what we have... )
And again again again... it should store it always for a service once you set it even after a rescan.... unless you did something ‘’wierd’... I personally had to set it once...
Also we can suggest to add something that is only doing it on sd channels... on hd channels and uhd channels you usually should never see them... so we also can add something to set the flag at all channels at once... and then never show it as soon yres > = 720

Mmmmm.... how did you clear your flags than... actually only by reloading Hanssar settings or so... and I already told we need to have a different way to store the flags -or- arrange Hans set then also good by default... so they are already correctly set as it should be... or you’re using a settings editor that does not support the flag...
It should simply work unless here is some ‘unexpected noise’ on the channel.... and of course we can improve it by storing the flags in a different file or so and/or add an option to add them for all channels and don’t shouw then on >=720p channels... and/or per bouquet... A blind plugin that always hide them is ‘struisvogelpolitiek’... not a real SMART solution...

A scan will also clear the flags.

We need a data storage backend, so we can store everything in there, from timers to config to epg.

But that requries a major rewrite of Enigma, and that in turn only works if you have a team of developers that can and is willing to work as a team and spend a few months working on such a project. Until now, large projects like this are killed with statements like "that sounds to much like work". Not to mention the fact that most developers in the Enigma "world" are einzelgängers, and don't like to work in a team (because that means follow rules and take orders).

But without those projects, no real progress is possible.

@Littlesat: If only you cared to read what Pr2 and me where saying, you should be able to understand that your user-case doesn't cover ours. We do need to set the hide-flag quite often, and WW perfectly explained why.

In fact I need to set it so often, that I even stopped bothering and more or less accepted the disturbing line. Until now that is, since I found out about this plugin.

A scan doesn’t clear the flags! I have it enabled on some Ziggo channels and it auto scans daily and it remembers all of it... subtitles audio channels and all flags! They are not cleared on existing services! It is only gone after a ‘weird’ Manipulation (settings editor-remove and scan, install new Hanssat settings, in short any action that overwrites or incorrectly manipulates lamedb, the place where the stuff is stored).... please try before you shoot! But indeed when you want to keep it after a ‘wierd’ manipulation then indeed a relatively big change in e2 is required...
I’m also afraid pr’s and I’m also sure rvdd’s case is not really a common user case... I’m sure they have some ‘weird’ manipulation in place... this will not ‘say’ we cannot search for alternatives by making the current situation more useable instead of using a really q&d plugin... I already mention some... e.g. always hide these dotted ‘sjit’ on sd channels... which is Always better then hide them Always...

I'm doing nothing 'weird' at all; a simple scan is enough to destroy the hide-VBI setting.

As this doen't happen to you, I presume you're not using the option to delete the services (a setting that should in fact be default).

I always select the Clear before scan to always have a clean lamedb.

@Littlesat,

We are already 2 in this thread to ask to make it possible to have it global and you are alone defending the fact to only being able to set it per channel... sorry but so far you are the only one that use it the way you think it must be used.

Finally we get to the real cause here... The Clear before scan....

Indeed.... clean before scan is what I called earlier one of the 'wierd manipulations'! It completely destoys and purges all the flags and priorities... when you're using it you have more side effects than 'just' the VBI lines...

----But basically you do not need to clear them at all....!----

I understand why you think you want to clean them. This is because lamedb will be full of services that don't exist anymore over the time. Actually instead of clearing them... we need 'something else' that does not clear/purge/destroy it... but cleans it instead.... (e.g. remove all services in lamedb that are not included in a userbouquet)... Then all the flags and all priorities are kept, while you still can clean the lamedb.

When we add an extra file that keeps the flags and prio's which is actually required when you download settings from hanssat or so... you will have the same 'clean' issue... the file is growing for ever... But we can also invent something like 'merge' lamedb.... so also here the flags and prio's are kept. And probably after the lamedb was merged we can also 'clean' the resulting lamedb (by removing the services that are not within a userbouquet).

When the flags are kept you simply do not NEED to make it global... There is actually more behind the whole thing... and I'm still convinced we should find a smoother solution than just be dummy and blindfold the top lines at any time...

Note you have a simple plugin now as work-a-round for your problem... So from now on we can develop a real solution...

So instead of implementing a simple option you prefer to develop a complex development just to keep the flags...

You should really become more open minded to other suggestions...

The plugin is indeed simple but required for you because you're manually clearing the flags and that is why you think you need it... The real solution is arranging the flags are kept and not cleared. And yes the real solution is more complex than a plugin that hides VBI lines at any time so also when it is not required at all.

The commit Dimitrij did point to is not really helpfull at all as PR2 (and RvdD) do clear (the whole) lamedb before they scan....

Adding something that cleans a lamedb (after the scan or better at demand or after reloading settings) might not be 'that' complicated.

Until there is no real solution for keeping flags, which also has other added value, be happy with the simple plugin.

@Littlesat: I'm lost about the 'clear services' not being needed.

Are you actually saying that when I have services (both in and not in bouquets) that do not exist anymore will be deleted without using this option?

If so: why does that option even exist?
