I think you need rtl8192eu driver.

I will try to add this driver on OpenPLi, since there is bitbake available in OE-A.

Give me some time to try for it.

@atiok,

don't forget to add the recipe to the repo, I think there were other users looking for this driver as well.

Sure,

Here it is: https://github.com/O...oe-core/pull/89

I updated driver to latest version (add supports for few more sticks) and remove PR.

Please note that in my build environment vusolo4k was failing, I had to clean kernel (bitbake virtual/kernel -c cleanall) in order to build.

Hi.

Does this also work in the VU+ Zero? I have a TP-LINK TL-WN821N with rtl8192eu.

Thanks in advance.

If it is the same chipset, probably. Since you already have the stick, install the driver and try it?

Well apparently it was ver4.2 and not V5 on the stick so it seems to have rtl8192cu and not eu chipset. I installed the latest build of openpli today and run opkg install kernel-module-rtl8192cu on the box. The wifi works fora a couple of minutes sometimes an hour and then stops. Sometimes it enough to restart my network och mostly I need to unplug and the stick back in or restart the reciever.

May this be software related or is the stick not compatible with openpli?

Hi, maybe i missed some updates to that 8192eu issue.

I tried to install the TL-WN823N-v2 USB 2357:0109  on vu solo 2 (latest build image) with the ipk above without success

the only output is :  usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 3  (points to the Realtek)..

Is there a way to get it working ??

Thx for your help !!

Bought an el-cheapo Sitecom stick last week which uses the same chipset.

I have the same experience with that driver, so it must be buggy. It isn't any better in the much newer OE that will be the basis for OpenPLi 5, so we need to find a fix for it somewhere.

edit: Reading around I see it might be related to power saving mode, which basically shuts down the wlan interface without reason. More testing is needed.

Hm,

sounds not so good.... If you explain me what you expect i can do some testing...

The Sticks works on a windows 10 PC with the RTL8192 eu driver, but will not even start in the box...

thx

My stick works on a cold boot of the box, but after a while it just stops, and restarting the network has no effect, a new cold boot is needed to revive the stick.

This is with the 8192cu driver btw, I have another el-cheapo stick at home (where I'm not atm) that I think uses the 8192eu driver, and that one works fine. But I can check next week.

Two years ago i've stopped putting some time in trying to get several usb sticks wifi to work with a solid connection.

It never worked for me to get a streaming stable connection except for wired local network..

As time flies, is there nowadays any improvement in this matter?

TL-WN823N-v2 USB 2357:0109

2357 is vendor id

109 is product id
