I miss a option where you can set the mute symbool disapared after a amount of time (as channel OSD) and/or complete disabled.

Think simple this been added. I know that i can mute volume to set volume slider to 0, but the Mute button works really faster.

Why should you time it?

Sometimes wants to turn off the sound direct, and experience it as anoying to see that mute symbol.

That's a nice solution (regardless if we would make it). The volume bar also disappears after some time, so it's the same behavior. I would not like another setting to enable or disable the mute symbol.

But how do you see when there is no sound because the sound is muted....? Should it appear again as soon the infobar is visible again?

I think to "mute" the mute-indicater is basically an easy patch.... but it should re-appear as soon you have the infobar (or any other screen).... And I would recommend trying to avoid to make this a programmable feature/new setting.

Nicest thing i did see on a TV set was:

Mute on / mute symbol for 2 seconds

Mute off / sound !!

 

When Mute is on : a push on the volume buttons / mute symbol appear for 2 seconds so you now that mute is on, no change in mute

When mute is off / normal volume behavior

 

But 2 or 3 years ago i have made the mute file a one pixel picture, so personal I'm not bothered with the situation as it is now, only when I do a new install I have to make some changes.

Show infobar or any other screen.... show mute again.... for 5 sec....

"next-master" isn't used for building.

For the time being patches can be applied to master, as the transition is going to take considerately more time.

However you can hear think you it's a idea to get a short symbol too when turn off mute? With mute button.

Think same symbol, but then without red line.
