Could indeed be an added value... If a skin supports it ;)

I can do two things.... Add unmute icon or simply show volume bar with current volume... The second has the advantage that it works directly for every skin... And I think this is logical aswell...

I second littlesat opinion displaying the volume bar is the right choice, no need for an unmute symbol.

Then there is also no need for a Mute symbol. Symply only the volume bar showed (with empty volume) when hit the mute key.

Second Mute symbol appearing when i do channel switch, don't want that.

The third thing is to leave everything as it is. We don't need an unmute option at all.

The volume bar should be displayed only when using the volume buttons. The Mute icon only when pressing "Mute". This is the most logical behaviour.

With the current situation (timed Mute icon), a timed Unmute icon would indeed make sense.

But I'd appreciate it this new behavour was optional, because I personally prefer the Mute icon always visible,

I think Mute symbol can completelly to the trash. Mute can be displayed with the volume bar.

Second you can hear when you muted the sound, unless you're deaf.

Same if you unmute sound.

You're the first one in over ten years that wonders about this, so perhaps you're asking the wrong question?

For me, and I assume for most users, it's very simple. If on mute, you need to press the mute button again. If not on mute and no sound, you need to use the volume up key. And I don't want to press a volume key to unmute, it is not natural for most users.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Hi,

Once in mute today you can unmute with the mute button or use the volume +/- to unmute too both are working. And yes for me it is natural to use the volume RCU keys to unmute.

But I see no point to have a specific unmute icon displayed.

The funny thing about all this discution is that it only make sense when you have no home theater system (through HDMI) and that you use your (poor) TV speaker.

Once you use a Home Theater system it will handle the volume and the mute/unmute stuff. So today when I mute the sound it is my home theater that mentionned that it is mute on screen.   :D

I am not talking of the HT remote here, when you use a HT system the sound control is forwarded to it, so i use my Solo4K RCU to mute and adjust the volume but all those action are forwarded to the HT system.  So I never have on the OSD the OpenPLi mute symbol and not even the sound level bar from OpenPLi but only the one from the HT system.

This is how it works when in the HDMI-CEC settings you forward the volume keys to the HT system.

I do not use Home Theater System or TV speakers. I use headphones.

I use a Barabone PC for sound regulation, and don't know of Windows volume can HDMI CEC regulation.

Do anyone know?

Is your STB connected with your PC by HDMI cable?

No the barabone connected to TV trough HDMI cable. Same as STB connected to TV trough HDMI Cable. Audio gets from STB to Barabone.
