My main testbox is an Edision OSmini+, so far I can't confirm this behaviour.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

During online update, sometimes the sofcam-manager is upgraded and it returns to default value none. So it is sometimes mandatory to select again the softcam that you use after an online update.

That is not the problem. The problem is in the use of bitbake variables in client-side scripting, which can have side-effects if they happen to exist on the client. This also explains why it happens randomly, and is difficult to reproduce.
I've just pushed a fix to develop to address this problem.

Have any issues with oscam and the latest v6 release firmware been reported?
I have a VU Ultimo 4K which is running v6 release and is up to date with all updates.
Oscam just stopped working for some strange reason. I could find nothing obviously wrong so uninstalled and then made sure that all trace of it were gone and re-installed but I just cannot get it to work anymore.
Before I look even deeper, can I ask if anyone else is having similar issues?
I have downgraded my version of oscam and all is working fine at the moment.

Which fix are you exactly referring to?
There was a cosmetic fix (11390) about two months ago, the last code change before that is over 6 months old. So you'd expect these problems in OpenPLi 4 too, as that has always used the latest release.

There was a change in the way powervu encryption is handled on some satellites.
This fix was to handle that change.
I am a user not someone who can code. I rely on the experts out there, of which I am extremely grateful.
The powervu fix is not a major issue for me as the channels I sometimes view have not yet made the change.

In attempt to clear things up: Is it possible that you refer to oscam softcam but instead you use oscam-emu softcam?

If I remember correctly changing the order of CA_SET_DESCR and CA_SET_DESCR_MODE makes the softcam instable if used on VU+ receivers.

The procedure is to install oscam from the feed, then install the oscam emu version overwriting the version under usr/bin/.
I can see only oscam 1390 in the feed no oscam emu 1391 in the feed for me.

Unless you are watching powervu channels illegally, there is no difference between 11390 and 11391. The last commit is cosmetic, to display "powervu" as encryption system.
