I downgraded to a version prior to the recent powervu fix.

That's all I did and it worked.

Can you post the exact oscam revision?

For example, this is my current version:

What's the difference between a EMU version of oscam and the one without that EMU?

It allows the ability to view powervu encrypted channels and until recently Tandberg encrypted feeds, as well as all the usual stuff with correct keys but I am sure we must be breaking forum rules by discussing this.

oscam-1.20-HPB-r732-EMU-r397-746-r11391

So you reverted back to begin 2017 version of emu patch to get it stable again.

What's the difference between a EMU version of oscam and the one without that EMU?

Read it here: https://github.com/oscam-emu/oscam-emu

From my point of view: emu patch contains all the code that endangers the legal status of the oscam project.

Using emupatch on top of oscam code is for sure illegal since you can watch pay tv with it without the need of a valid subscription.

Some would say Oscam it self is already illegal since you can watch pay tv with it using a solotion not supported and approved by the providers.

I would say I have a valid subscription so I can and want to watch the content I paid for. How I accomplish that it is my personal struggle.

If there are folks out there using oscam to watch without a valid subscription is their personal problem.

You cant forbid sales of crowbars either since some burglars use them.

Thnx, the oscam-EMU version has some "additions" compared to the generic/standard version of oscam supplied by OpenPLi for example.

The procedure is to install oscam from the feed, then install the oscam emu version overwriting the version under usr/bin/.

I can see only oscam 1390 in the feed no oscam emu 1391 in the feed for me.

No, the procedure is to install the oscam emu from our feeds.

What happened to my post in this thread about bitrate plugin issues?

I asked for it to be moved to openpli 6.0 release but it seems to be erased.

I've seen it, but as I don't have a clue, I haven't replied. ;)

I did see a reponse from Erik, stating that ps entries in brackets are kernel processes, and can be ignored.

Looks like today's update has broken oscam again.

I saw quite a few references to oscam in the update log.

There was another 3 updates available later in the day and I installed them hoping it would provide a fix but no.

I shall investigate and get oscam working again tomorrow if I have time. Luckily, I have several other receivers I can use.

Yesterday's software update overwrote my oscam binary file with an older version.

Correct version back in place and all working again.

Everytime we run a build and you update, your local Oscam will be overwritten, if there is an Oscam update.

Hi,

The easiest way to solve this is to create your own Softcam startup script.

Go into:  /etc/init.d

look at softcam file and create your own one.

The select yours in the softcam manager.

Also make sure you give your custom binary a unique name and use that in the startup, otherwise the binary will still be overwritten on update.

And why exactly would one want to use it's "own" (precompiled?) binary of oscam? In that case I'd suggest to remove our feeds package altogether, install your own stuff and then there is no problem.
