Is it necessary to stop and restart Enigma to do it?

yes, you need to stop enigma2 then edit your file and copy it back to your box (/etc/enigma2) and at last start enigma2 again

Isn't it possible to modify the file and then restart Enigma?

no

and this takes effect for all files under /etc/enigma2

I'm surprised because when I do modifications on the file "settings" or "timers" in /etc/enigma2, for "settings" I take it with Windows Notepad++, I modify it, save it and restart Enigma. I think Pli reads these files when it starts and keep only the contents in memory, that's why if there is an electrical cut or a crash, the last informations are not saved. There are saved only if we restart properly Enigma or the box.

It's not convenient to modify a message in this forum  !

WanWizard, why don't you take a modern editor as DreamBoxEdit? It's very convenient, you do a scan on the box, you importin DBE the services found and construct your favourite(s) with the mouse. It's easier and quicker. And when you change the box or install a new image, you can export your favourites. Ans as this, you have a backup of your favourites. You can also do several games of favourites. Ok, if you don't modify them and know where are the files, you can save and copy them on the "new" box but if you have a little time, try it, it's very convenient ;) .

No need to use an editor, I never edit. ;)

And no Windows (on PC's ;)) in my house, which also doesn't help...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

#SERVICE 8192:0:1:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:
#DESCRIPTION Xtrend HDMI 2 Input

Ok, I can record with a timer  :)  but as when I record with the red record button, there is no sound and the picture is awful as you can see below.

Attached File  screenshot_2017-12-01_19-47-28.jpg   156.09KB   15 downloads

I don't understand why there is sound and a picture not too "bad" if I see the service from the HDMI In and why there is no sound and an awful picture if record  .

I saw another service and I have to change service because when record start, I heard the "HDMI In" sound with the current service  . When I change service, I can heard the sound of the good service.

Do you think it's also a driver problem?

Thank you :) .

Either driver or hardware limitation. It's not something that enigma can solve.

Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

The Xtrend ET10000 certainly used to record hdmi-In without an issue.

Yes I've seen HDMI In Xtrend works better than the Vu+ but I had so many reliability problems with my 2 Xtrends that I wanted to change.

My et10k records from hdmi-in (using ViX), but in practice, I never ever use it.

I want to use it when there is no other way to get the file and/or when the original box has a poor media player. The Freebox (Internet provider) player has no slow motion, no fast forward and it's a misery to move in the file :( .

Having a Uno 4k SE and wounder why it's a Hdmi in it because it’s a limitation of the resolution at 720p so you will not use it. It would be handy with out a limitation than you can use it so I started to look around and found this for the Ultimo from Fri, 17 Feb 2017

http://code.vuplus.c...df6e760a4727241

update driver(uno4k, ultimo4k)

- Fix pixelation problem(ultimo4k)

- Support 4K transcoding in idle mode

- Fix problem when there are 2 transcodings at the same time.(ultimo4k)

- Change recording resolution of HDMI-IN to fixed 720p(ultimo4k)

So my question is it just a software limitation ?

I've spoke with a friend who is electronics and he thinks it's an hardware limitation. The 720p component is cheaper than a 1080i.

On the other hand, I wonder whether these new drivers can solve the recording problem. I've not found how to get them and try them. is this there :

    http://archive.vuplu...wnload/drivers/

And are the good drivers for the Ultimo 4K this file :

Thank you :) .

2014? There was no Ultimo 4K on the horizon at that time. Those drivers are for the Ultimo, not the Ultimo 4K.
