LOC - INS I would change the LOC key name to INS.

OK, Your explanation is sufficient. I had a hard to guess, that LOC == to bring up the Locale selection menu.
This is certainly a mystery to every new user.

@zeros, locale has always been on the yellow key. But now you don't need to cycle through all the keyboards to find the one you want.

Hi Zeros,

Latvian Virtual keyboard:
https://gate2home.com/Latvian-Keyboard
And that's what it look like.

The Latvian keyboard has been provided.  Exactly what is wrong with it?

The screen capture image of the Keyboard is incorrect.  The bottoms of all the buttons is missing!  Can I please have a copy of your skin.xml file to check for any errors.

I won't start adding random keyboards at this time.  It would be better if users ask for keyboards that they will actually use.

Regards,

Ian.

Hi Zeros,

The Latvian keyboard has already been provided!

Exactly what is wrong with the one I developed?  It is based on these samples:

Are you asking me to reshape the keyboard to the sample you provided?  Would that be acceptable to all Latvian speakers?

Regards,

Ian.

Hi Zeros,

I think the skin error for your keyboard may be my fault.  Your skin is a 1280 x 720 skin but I gave you some of the settings for a 1920 x 1080 skin.

Do you have the latest dev build of OpenPLi?  That is, do you have the ne DejaVuSans.ttf font loaded?

If you have the DejaViSans.ttf font available then please try out skinDejaVu.xml (rename it to skin.xml).  If you don't have that font then use skin.xml.  This should make the VirtualKeyBoard look a lot better!  (Remember to use the 720 version of all the vkey_* images.)

Please let me know ASAP how this works for you.

Regards,

Ian.

No, no DejaVuSans.ttf font loaded yet. I can't do two things at once-to upgrade an image to the last steps and at the same time test new things. I noticed that the screen shots I sent was mistakenly mistaken. I accidentally uploaded your file, I apologize, I will send on the evening again. Estonian language is OK. I noticed that by default it will load the keyboard, which language is selected. I will test, what happens when a language that doesn't have a keyboard is selected. For example, if I choose a Lithuanian language, will the virtual keyboard be the default in English? (As the Lithuanian keyboard is currently missing)

Hi,

No he doesn't have DejaVu since it was pushed only in the develop branch and OpenPLi 6.2 is now considered as a stable branch.

So he needs to install it manually to have it on its system.

@zeros

As you compile your images using pli-extras just add "iansav" to your MACHINE_FEATURES and build a new image, no more changes needed.

Just let me update the patch with DejaVuSans.ttf ...

Hi Zeros,

The default language screen you see when the VirtualKeyBoard is loaded is the one that matches the Locale that your Enigma2 is configured to use.  If there is no match then the default Locale will be en_EN (English - Various) the generic English keyboard.

Do you know to what your system Locale is set?

Regards,

Ian.

Hi All,

Pull Request #1670 (Refactor VirtualKeyBoard) has been raised for the new VirtualKeyBoard (includes VirtualKeyBoard.py, keymap.xml and VIRTUALKEYBOARD documentation file).

This will also need the matching skin changes to be complete and functional.

Can someone please review the pull request to make sure I haven't made any errors.

Regards,

Ian.

Persian Prince is going to help me and do the skin pull requests.  I can't run OpenPLi well enough to test the skins myself.  I don't have a development build of OpenPLi as my hardware is not supported.
