Hi everyone

I just got my shiny new dm600 in the mail yesterday.
First thing I did was to try to install pLi iolite using the stop mode method.. what I did:
1) gave the box a fixed ip
2) telnet in and type:
mount /boot -o remount,rw
then.. rm /boot/*
then.. reboot
3) I got into the web interface, and flashed it with my image
3) When it said that it had successfully finished flashing (or something to that effect) I rebooted my box by cutting the power
4) Observe that the box has no output on the screen, the network light has not come on, and the box is not visible to dreamUP. Both the red and green LED's are on

my box is dead, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Can anyone help?

Please disconnect the serial cable.
Sometimes it reacts to this cable being connected by refusing to startup.
Note that it always can be flashed again using dreamup.

It shurely isn't as dead as your thinking.

I have tried it without the serial cable.. still no change
Also, I can't flash it with dreamup, because as mentioned.. dreamup does not see it... I start dreamup, click connect, turn on the dreambox (with serial cable in), and nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong? what else can I try?

Try this;

1. Power off the 600
2. Plug your null modem (serial cable) cable back into the 600 and your pc
3. Setup hyper terminal
4. Power on your 600 and read the output in hyper terminal

Now pray it does not say 'send your box back to DMM for repair'.

If you see no output it is either;

1. Not a null modem cable you are using (the reason why dreamUP does not work)
2. You did not set up hyper terminal properly (Use the F1 key for help)

Ok, mission accomplished..

I've attached a screenshot of hyperterminal after I turned my dm600 on. I have no idea what it means, hopefully you can help me with that :)

Looks like you haven't set the speed properly.

Start Hyperterminal with following parameters:
- Bits per second = 115200
- Data bits = 8
- Parity = None
- Stop bits = 1
- Flow control = Xon / Xoff

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

It means the speed for the connection is set up wrong :)

Have you tried the option "recover bad flash" within Dreamup? Maybe that wil fix the problem.

Yes, I have tried it with 'recover bad flash' ticked, and I just tried it again. The problem is, the box never gets connected.. so it doesn't make any difference.

it just sits at 'connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox!'
and it doesn't change after the dreambox has been turned on

I'm using dreamup 1.3.3.0

The cable is good as far as I can tell.. It works flawlessly with my dm500

What if you flash an older image?

It looks to me like the kernel checks your security chip, but it doesn't find it.

I'm not sure if I understand
how can I install an older image when dreamup won't connect?

as soon as you get dreamup to connect, you will find that flasing the same image will lead to the same problem again.

The bootloader is find, it looks like it boots the kernel.
So eventually you should get dreamup working. Perhaps you should try a pc with a real comport, if you are using a usb2serial now?
