Sorry, I still haven't managed to activate the wlan on my GIGABLUE UHD UE 4K.
I don't understand why this is Openpli is the only image that does not allow me the choice lan or wlan. Thank you

Is the WLAN interface visible?

If not, the driver isn't installed and loaded. Which means the Gigablue BSP isn't configured to pre-install the driver.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

The WLAN interface is not visible. This is the only image that does not have the wlan interface on board. I Think we need a .ipk file.

I've checked the specs, the GB UE 4K doesn't have a built-in WLAN adapter?

So what exactly are we talking about? a USB dongle? OpenPLi doesn't overload the image with all sorts of drivers virtually nobody uses, so you need to install it.

Afaik the "Gigablue" USB stick is an rtl8812au, so if you have this one, install the "kernel-module-8812au" package (software management or using opkg on the commandline).

For those interested I have finally solved that:

first installed the wirelesslan from the on board plugins, then

opkg update
opkg install kernel-module-8812au
reboot

We don't install any wifi driver per default, unless the device has internal wifi.

I still would like an answer to:

If it is something GB supplies with the box, we could consider this as "built-in",  like we do for the VU+ USB stick...

I don't understand why all the other images don't have this problem. Regards

Because they install everything but the kitchen sink in the image, which makes them twice as big as ours.

If it is supplied with the box, and/or manufacturer branded, we will include the driver in the build (still waiting for an answer to that question), if it is a 3rd-party stick, you can install the driver. We are working on making that more user-friendly.

I tried OpenATV on my GB UE 4K. No Wi-Fi options showing. Not surprising as I didn't see any WiFi cards on the circuit board or antenna cables last time I opened it up.

Pity OP doesn't confirm if he is using a USB device.

Perfect I use the identical usb as in the picture. And as I have repeatedly said the problem does not arise with the other images.

And I have already explained why.

Now you have confirmed it is a Gigablue supplied device that is using the 8812au driver, we can do something about it.

Okay, always thanks. Now when you go on the Net there is the possibility of choice on Wifi or Lan. But when you choose the Wifi says: ""The Wireless Network plugin is not installed! You need to install it"". The other images, at this point, allow you to search for all wifi networks and choose your own without connecting the Lan cable.

Gigablue BSP was missing the "wlan" MACHINE_FEATURE, which takes care of including it in the image. Added it manually.
