I've recently been getting a Zgemma H9 twin. It is a fantastic little box. Very fast and multiboot is great.  I'm using OpenPli 7.1.

 

However, I cannot get the full image back-up to work. I've also tried it with Pure2 6.3 and OpenATV 6.3 with no success.

I've got a newly installed 300GB HDD with only a few files (movies, recordings etc) on it.

The backup of the system settings to HDD works fine.

However when I elect to do a full image backup to /media/hdd I get this output with OpenPli (and Pure2) :-

With OpenATV 6.3 the process gets a bit further:-

A zip file is created on the HDD. I can then enter recovery mode and flash the backed-up image.

 

However, when flashing is complete the box does not boot and it just reverts to the recovery mode.

 

The zip file produced (101,116Kb) contains

 

unforce_h9combo.txt
 h9combo (folder)
   force_h9combo_READ.ME
   imageversion
   rootfs.tar.bz2

 

There is no "uImage". Should there be?

 

I've tried backing-up the image in use and also an image in another slot - with the same result.

 

Am I the only one with this problem? What is the problem? How can I fix it?

Well Yes, there should be a kernel Uimage file.

I have just run an OpenViX image backup (as a test) and then online flashed the backup successfully, so its an issue with the image backup software that you are using.

Thanks for your input. However, I've already tried Backupsuite

 

It fails with this error message

 

/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/BackupSuite/bachupsuite.sh: line 250: arithmetic syntax error
Execution finished!!

 

For completeness I also tried Automatic Full Backup.

 

That fails with

"NO UBIFS,THENJFFS2 BUT NOT SUPPORTED ANYMORE"

 

So with OpenPli I've not found a way to do a full image backup on this multiboot machine.

Thats what I love about you guys .....you make something really simple, difficult.

If the software worked as it should, you would not need all these posts.

Some users like taking an image backup, although on a multiboot receiver, not really needed if you backup settings - however it is really straight forward to make an image backup for any  zgemma  receiver  - so lets fix the backup software rather than making excuses.

If the software worked as it should, you would not need all these posts.

Some users like taking an image backup, although on a multiboot receiver, not really needed if you backup settings - however it is really straight forward to make an image backup for any  zgemma  receiver  - so lets fix the backup software rather than making excuses.

I already did write about this several times. But it was never fixed completely.

 

For me (and others) this solutions works.

 

What's strange: 007.4 talks about 'bachupsuite.sh'. But when I look it is called 'backupsuite.sh' here . mistyping ?

Not sure who you are addressing here with "you guys", but afaik Dimmie is not a developer, and nether backup solution is made by OpenPLi, so I guess the only person you can speak with is the author of the plugin?

I installed openvix and the backup appeared to be progressing successfully with three temporary folders fully created under /media/hdd/imagebackups.

 

However, that too failed with

 

"Image manager

Error: Timeout elapsed, sorry"

 

The temporary folders remain. Unfortunately the "release" folder is not populated.

Any ideas?

So is there anybody on this forum can help me solve the full image backup problem on the multibooting Zgemma H9 Twin running OpenPli 7.1?  It is not a H9.2H.

Only the image selected is backed up

What device are you backing up to? ... if its slow it might need an extended timer.

The backup does take a long time for some of these HisIlicon receivers.

Suggest rather than waste time here on OpenPli forum, you post on the ViX forum and we can sort it there

I've just run it again on VIX and this time it worked.   

Better still I was able to flash the backed-up image to another slot and it was fine.

 

It is a shame OpenPli does not have this basic function working.  After many years of having Pli as my default image on numerous boxes, I may have to defect

It is not our plugin, complain with the author.

 

Besides that, we don't see the point of full backups, the people for which that is really useful (those that install a lot manually or have custom development on the box) can be counted on the fingers of one hand...
