Hi, are there any news about the release of 7.3?
Did you know anything about the DVD problem?
Thank you all for your interest.

Our developers are busy with the Release Candidate so probably quite soon.
Don’t know anything regarding ‘a’ DVD problem.

The DVD 'problem' is lack of driver support. Nothing we can do to fix.
And afaik it hasn't been adressed, it is a generic HiSil issue (it doesn't work on any box with a SoC made by HiSilicon).
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

What exactly is the problem?
At the risk of getting rants again ...
But it should be solved via ffmpeg and the construction.
I can only compare this because of the similarity of the ServiceHisilicon and the construction of the sh4 boxes.
Everything works with the DVD player on sh4.

I'm not an expert and I don't know the cause well.
I know that normally with a box mips if you launch a dvd (unpacked iso that is on a hard disk or usb or other) the menu is displayed to choose audio track, chapters, special contents etc.
On new boxes this does not happen, it crashes and you have to restart.
To watch a DVD you must:
1) use bmediacenter;
2) change with the blue button that the DVDs must work them as videos;
3) watch one vob file at a time.
At the moment it is the only way I have found to watch DVDs with the new 4K boxes (amiko viper combo 4k, gigablue trio4k, octagon sf8008 4k)
If it were a codec problem I couldn't even look at them individually.
The problem in my opinion lies in the processing of the video_ts.ifo files

As mentioned several times, it is not a codec problem. DVD's uses old and very established codecs.
If I enable libdvd debugging, I get:
libdreamdvd: soft ac3 decoding is not available, liba52.so.0 not found ! libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 5.0.4 libdvdread: Couldn't find device name. libdvdnav: Can't read name block. Probably not a DVD-ROM device. libdvdnav: vm: dvd_read_name failed libdvdnav: DVD disk reports itself with Region mask 0x00000000. Regions: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 LIBDVD: 000.033: /proc/stb/pcr/pcr_stc_offset: No such file or directory LIBDVD: 000.033: /proc/stb/vmpeg/0/sync_offset: No such file or directory
which suggests there are some compatibility issues that need adressing. libdvdread and libdvdnav are from the videolan project.

https://github.com/z...con.cpp#L46-L89
crucial lines are missing ...
Who would have to test locally if this could lead to a solution.
On the other hand, gst, it could also be activated via ServiceHisilicon.
extensions.push_back("img"); extensions.push_back("iso"); extensions.push_back("ifo");

Afaik the DVD isn't played by ServiceHisilicon, it is played by servicedvd in E2, with the help of libdreamdvd and the VideoLAN libraries.

Why, a DVD is standard MPEG, it is pumped directly into the SoC, there is no external player involved?
It more looks like something isn't compatible between HiSil boxes and libdreamdvd, so the environment setup fails, which in turn causes libdvdread and libdvdnav to fail.

and take a look at the sh4.patch regarding the above error message.
It is quite possible that he can help there too, so restructured for Hisi (arm).

https://code.videola...olan/libdvdread
https://code.videola...eolan/libdvdnav
currently seems to be the most current variant.
XBMC Branch is also equipped with develop branch.
It would be worth trying.
If someone wants to try it with such a box and can build it himself.
greetings

In develop we build both with AUTOREV, which means using the master HEAD. So we are already testing with the latest version, it doesn't solve anything.
I am more inclined to believe that HiSil, like the sh4 platform, requires patching of libdreamdvd, given the error messages I see when I run it in debug mode.
