I've noticed over the last few days that access to file mode has been increasingly erratic. I may have to navigate to another menu/function before I return to file mode to get the folder display up.

I must admit I have been experimenting with mounts, but all original mounts have been removed. The 1 remaining mount shows up in setup>system settings>network mounts OK.

Now however I can't access file mode at all, selecting file mode>OK does nothing except returning me to the PLi Jade splash screen with Radio/MP3/File Mode.

I must explain I don't have satellite yet as I'm waiting for my dish to be installed.

Thanks in Advance

That may happen if your last played file is a dvd. Accessing filemode starts the dvdplayer, which takes a long time, you'll probably press some key because you don't see anything happening... If you attach your /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/config file we can check if that's the case.

Another issue is that the dreambox is slow when there is no dish, because it tries to tune all the time. Things will be better with a lnb attached ;).

Filemode tries to access /media/server1/. Maybe that mount is unavailable?

So if you telnet to the box and do 'ls /media/server1' you get an answer immediately?
In that case it is strange. But you should really wait until you fixed your dish before we jump to conclusions.

Yes the folder inside that one "test" is listed in a split second, really at a loss here as I don't want to re-flash

Update: I've just tried entering tv mode & selecting a channel, then going back to File Mode & pressing OK. The folder view came up, I think as you said the box is a little confused without a Sat Input. I'll wait until I've got it connected up before I bother anyone further.

Strangely the dreambox reports that 34% of my mounted drive is in use? 2empty folders?

That could be indeed the case. If the Dreambox cannot receive a signal it will be quite busy trying to receive that signal (what it is, I don't know, but Enigma could even crash a few years ago).

Well guys I've had (temporary) access to a dish & scanned all the transponders on the Satellite. I'm just trying to get my head round Dreamboxedit to get all the channels sorted. However I still cant access file mode? I'm happy the box does all that I ask with the exception of file mode. Any ideas?

So, it still crashes (or gives you the boot logo) if you go to file mode? I think it tries to play the latest used file and for some reason the Dreambox cannot handle it and crashes.
What you could try: go to the menu Dreambox settings/system settings/recording and playing and disable the "Enable autoplay".
